I am writing in response to the fascinating and carefully thought-out opinions of Mr Blasiak, as published in The Recorder. Mr. Blasiak informs us of his insight that the “heterosexual act” is crucial to the reproduction of the species.

But, I would like to amplify his point. As heterosexuality is absolutely essential for survival, it must be practiced with due care and seriousness.

We mustn’t practice it carelessly but approach it as a difficult but necessary task that must be performed without distraction by personal whims or passionate feeling.

Where does this leave homosexuality? As Mr. Blasiak notes, it is as natural as anything else.

But, as it is not strictly necessary, it must belong to the great pantheon of human cultural achievement, along with art, literature and music.

Indeed, I’m sure Mr. Blasiak would agree with the opinion of Socrates’, the founder of Western rational thought, as expressed in Plato’s “Symposium,” that there is no love more true, high or pure than that practiced between two homosexuals.
