GREENFIELD — As a fundraiser, the Friends of the Greenfield Public Library is raffling a quilted wall hanging patterned on popular Roseville pottery and valued at $3,400.

The approximately 4-by-5-foot hanging is hand appliquéd and machine quilted. It’s a tribute to Roseville Pottery Co., founded in 1890. The vase and floral patterns are stitched by appliqué artist Leslie Cook of Greenfield. The center block contains more than 250 shapes. The use of fabric from Bali lends the flowers rich shading and dimension. Collectors of Roseville pottery will recognize familiar shapes from the vast collection of vases.

Also being raffled is an iPad or $500 Gift Certificate at Brown Computer Solutions. Tickets are $5 or 3 for $10. The drawing will be on Nov. 12.

The wall hanging is on display at the Textile Company at 21 Power Square, where raffle tickets may be purchased. The raffle will be set up in the Roundhouse at the Franklin County Fair in early September, then at the Deerfield Craft Fair. Tickets are available at the library.

The Friends of the Greenfield Public Library is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the library by focusing public attention on the library’s services, facilities and needs, and to encourage gifts to the library in the form of books, endowments and bequests.

The Friends provides funds for virtually all library programming, including films, book discussions, home-bound program, story hours, writing workshops, museum passes and summer reading programs, all of which are free.
