The Greenfield School Department hopes its new “We’re Listening” website section will foster communication between administrators and the public.

GREENFIELD — Got a question for the Greenfield School Department? A new form on the department’s website aims to make getting an answer a bit easier.

The department launched its new “We’re Listening!” feature on its main website, gpsk12.org, that will allow residents to select from a menu of hot topics in the district and fill out a form to submit questions or comments directly to the superintendent and the person who’s best suited to answer the query.

Carol Holzberg, the department’s technology director, said the new feature is part of the department’s one-year review of the new website on the first anniversary of its launch.

“We wanted to add more interactive features,” she said.

Superintendent Jordana Harper said the app is a reflection of the department’s goal of increasing communication with families as part of its strategic plan.

“We already have strong communication venues in place, and this is one more way we can encourage parent and community feedback. Knowing how we’re doing will help us continually improve our skills,” Harper said.

Harper said the department’s website has proved popular among residents, who are using their phones and the internet to receive information more often.

Holzberg stressed that the new feature is not intended to replace face-to-face conversations and interaction or phone calls, but they do hope making it easier to communicate will provide another way to receive community input.
