So let me see if I’m understanding the Eunice William Drive situation correctly.
As long as the people there aren’t doing anything illegal, they can be there doing whatever else they want?
Even on a budget, I think I could afford $6 to go to the Green River Swimming and Recreation Area. That argument to me is ridiculous. There is plenty of shade, places to picnic, a basketball court, plenty of room to sunbathe or play some type of lawn game. There are also restrooms there!
I don’t understand why this portion of the issue isn’t being addressed at the pumping station. Do you really think the people are making “bathroom runs” to an actual place they should be doing their business in? Do you think they’re holding it? Is it really okay for so many to be going behind the bushes?? Or maybe it’s okay for them to eliminate their waste in the river as long as they’re below the intake for the water supply?
I don’t understand. Greenfield residents should be up in arms! They pay taxes, and I’m sure some of that money goes towards maintaining the swimming area. There is a fee charged because of the maintenance needed to keep it up.
So the taxpayers are “paying” for the Department of Public Works to maintain an area designed for recreation and for the clean up (and now patrols) to an area people are using for free. Maybe the town should start offering transportation to the pumping station to cut down on the car congestion.
After all, we wouldn’t want anything to happen to the freeloaders’ cars while they’re enjoying the area!
