ATHOL — The 22nd Athol Hospital Golf Classic, held Aug. 10 at the Ellinwood Country Club in Athol, raised $42,000 to assist the hospital with the construction of a new emergency department and medical office building.
The development would address space constraints and help provide patients with improved emergency, behavioral, and primary and specialty health care in a state-of-the-art setting, hospital officials say.
The planned emergency department construction is expected to provide more spacious treatment rooms — including a separate treatment area for behavioral health patients — and improve efficiency. The new medical office building would add office space for primary, specialty and behavioral health providers.
The annual golf classic has supported an assortment of initiatives and services, including enhancements to equipment and improvements throughout the hospital’s campus. Most recently, proceeds facilitated bringing the Diabetes Center of Excellence on-site to Athol Hospital.
