NORTHFIELD — The F. Sumner Turner Road entrance to Pioneer Valley Regional School will be closed for paving between Monday and Thursday, weather permitting. According to the Northfield town website, those needing to access Pioneer during this time should use the rear entrance on Bennett Brook Road.
NORTHFIELD — The Council on Aging will host a picnic with games and music Tuesday, Aug. 16, starting at 9 a.m. at Town Hall.
According to Director Heather Tower, card games, horse shoes and cornhole are offered starting at 9 a.m. Starting at 10:30 a.m., “The Romeos,” will provide musical entertainment. Shirley Thompson will also play the electric keyboard.
A lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and other side dishes will be served at 11:30 a.m., with ice cream sundaes for dessert. According to Tower, Franklin County officials including Sheriff Chris Donelan and and legislators will serve the food.
Monday is the last day to register and tickets are $5 per person. Call the Council on Aging at 413-498-2186 to register.
