State Senate candidate Andrea Harrington, who is competing in the Sept. 8 Democratic primary race in the district that includes nine western Franklin County towns, has been endorsed by the Berkshire County Building and Construction Trades Council and the Massachusetts Organization of State Engineers and Scientists.
The Berkshire County Building and Construction Trades Council is composed of 15 local craft trade unions and represents 7,500 members in western Massachusetts.
Harrington, an atttorney and small-business owner, is running against Democrats Adam Hinds of Pittsfield and Rinaldo del Gallo for the seat being vacated by Sen. Benjamin Downing, D-Pittsfield. The district includes Shelburne, Buckland, Conway, Ashfield, Hawley, Heath, Charlemont, Rowe and Monroe.
Council President Tim Craw called Harrington “the best choice for State Senate, because she will ensure that the voices of working families in western Mass. are heard and our communities are represented. Losing the representation of Sen. Downing is a major loss, and we need to elect a qualified candidate ready to fight for our region on day one.”
Acknowledging the endorsement, Harrington said, “As someone who grew up in a working family in the Berkshires, I was taught that if you work hard and play by the rules, you should have access to great education, good career pathways and limitless opportunity. I will make job creation and economic growth in western Massachusetts my top priorities as your state senator.”
