MONTAGUE — Aug. 19 is the last day to register to vote or to change your party affiliation for the upcoming Sept. 8 State Primary. Registration will be held at the Public Safety Complex, 180 Turnpike Road for all Montague residents who will be 18 years old on or before Sept. 8.
Registration hours will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registered voters who belong to any one of the four parties, (Republican, Democrat, Green-Rainbow or United Independent Party), must vote their party affiliation. Unenrolled registered voters and other political designations can choose any one of the four party ballots.

Absentee ballots are now available at the town clerk’s office for the Sept. 8 state primary. The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is noon Sept 7. To vote absentee you must be out of town on the day of the election, have a religious belief that prohibits you from being at the polls or have a physical disability that prevents you from going to the polls. All absentee ballots must be returned to the town clerk’s office by the close of the polls on Sept. 8. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The town clerk’s office is at the Town Hall, One Avenue A, Turners Falls. Town Hall is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Town Hall is closed on Fridays. For more information call 863-3200, ext 203.
