BERNARDSTON — Jaimie Remillard, 23, of Northfield was airlifted by LifeFlight to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield Tuesday afternoon following a serious horseback riding accident.
According to Bernardston Fire Chief Peter Shedd, Remillard was riding a horse at around 3:30 p.m. in the arena at Dry Brook Stables, located at 265 Huckle Hill Road, when the horse reared and fell over backwards onto Remillard.
“Thankfully, there was another person right there (to call for help),” Shedd said.
Shedd said members of the Bernardston Fire Department and a Medcare Ambulance responded. Remillard suffered several broken ribs, fractures to the hip and pelvic area, and internal injuries.
LifeFlight landed at Kringle Drive and Remillard was transported by ambulance to the helicopter.
According to Phyllis Roy, public relations coordinator with Baystate, Remillard is still in the hospital “in good condition.” Roy said Remillard’s injuries don’t appear to be life-threatening.
