SHELBURNE FALLS — Voters will have the opportunity to meet state Senate candidate Adam Hinds, D-Pittsfield, on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. on the lawn behind the Young & Constantin Galley at 4 Deerfield Ave.
Hinds, who grew up in Buckland, is seeking election to the Senate seat held by Benjamin Downing, who is not seeking re-election.
Hinds wants to speed up the process by which Western Massachusetts towns are connected to last-mile broadband. He’s also in favor of more state reimbursement for regional school district transportation and more resources for small town government, and programs that will bring more local consumer sales to local farmers.
Hinds worked for Congressman John Olver, serving as his campaign manager, and also worked on John Kerry’s presidential campaign, where he served under Susan Rice the current National Security Advisor. If elected, he would represent 52 western Massachusetts towns, including these in Franklin County: Monroe, Rowe, Heath, Charlemont, Hawley, Buckland, Ashfield, Conway and Shelburne.
