Bernardston rolls out new unmarked police vehicle

BERNARDSTON — Bernardston residents might spot a new police cruiser rolling around town.

The Bernardston Selectboard announced in a meeting Wednesday that the new cruiser has been in service for about a week following technical repairs to the vehicle’s lights.

The new vehicle will need to have its windows tinted and will not be marked, which are requirements for transporting juveniles.

The board also approved the Bernardston Police Chief James Palmeri’s recommendation to make the department’s 2007 Ford Crown Victoria surplus property. The vehicle will be put out to bid.

Bernardston Town Hall to switch its internet service

BERNARDSTON — Bernardston Town Hall will switch its internet from Crocker to Verizon on Aug. 16.

Town officials have had Internet speed and connectivity problems in recent weeks, leading to the transition.

“Verizon is not a lot more than what we’re paying now for the three buildings: Town Hall, the fire station and the Council on Aging,” said Town Coordinator Hugh Campbell. “Cost effectively, that’s the best option for us right now.”

The town will enter into a two-year contract with Verizon.
