DEERFIELD — A mountain biker was hospitalized Sunday afternoon after his leg was impaled by a stick on a trail near Keets Road.
Deerfield Police said the accident happened on a trail around 1:45 p.m.
Officers, South County EMS and Deerfield Fire Department personnel responded and assisted with extracting the victim from of the woods.
“Luckily, they were riding as a group and were able to provide first aid and summon emergency help,” read a post on the department’s Facebook page.
“Bring a friend and your phone, never know when your going to need both.”
The victim, whom police did not identify, was transported to Baystate Medical Center.
