ASHFIELD — An auction to benefit both the Ashfield Community Preschool and the Ashfield Community Hall takes place this Sunday in the Ashfield Community Hall at 521 Main St.

The preview starts at 10 a.m. and the auction itself, with auctioneer Mike Skalski, begins at 1 p.m.

Local artists and local businesses have contributed many goods, gift certificates, antiques, collectibles, furniture and other useful and interesting items. Artists who contributed items for sale include: Ed Branson, Jackie Boudrea Kinsey, Beverly Duncan, Walter Cudnohufsky, Sara Holbrook, Jim Murphy, Jonathan Winifisky, Mimi Pieropan and Nina Anderson Coler.

Refreshments, including Country Pie Pizza and home-baked items will be for sale.

The Ashfield Community Hall is fast becoming a cultural center, says Nina Anderson Coler, and it is now home to dance classes, yoga classes, theater productions, concerts and is even rented out for wedding receptions. One long-term goal is to make the hall fully handicapped accessible.

Money raised for the preschool will be used to help pay for programming. The preschool provides year-round daycare and programs for young children.
