ASHFIELD — You don’t have to live in Ashfield to enter a five-minute film for consideration in the Ashfield Film Festival: But you do have to submit it by Aug. 15 at 5 p.m.

This year marks the 10th anniversary for the film festival that was founded in the birthplace of Cecil B. DeMille. Anyone can enter as long as their video has some connection, however small, to the town of Ashfield, says Carol Lebold of Ashfield.

“If you are a resident from Ashfield, you can submit a film shot in Italy,” she said. “If you were Italian or from Greenfield or Northampton you could submit an entry of any kind, as long as you make at least a brief or clever reference to Ashfield within your entry.”

Past entries have included actors or subjects who are residents of Ashfield, Ashfield locations or had dialogue or plots that refer to Ashfield.

Entries can be mailed to Ashfield FilmFest, P.O. Box 337 Ashfield, MA 01330. All entries must be five minutes or less and submitted in HD format. Details for submissions, including FAQs and contact information can be found on the website at: www.ashfieldfilmfest.org or find it on FaceBook under AshfieldFilmFest.

Selected films will be shown Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. as the culminating weekend event of the Ashfield FilmFest.

Usually, the festival is held one night; but this year, the FilmFest will run for three consecutive nights and an afternoon on Sept. 15 to 17.

Tickets go on sale in August. For more information visit: ashfieldfilmfest.org
