DEERFIELD — Police Sgt. Harry Ruddock, III. stopped to help out after spotting someone who crashed a motorized wheelchair Wednesday evening.
According to a post on the Police Department’s Facebook page, the operator of the wheelchair was taken to the hospital by an ambulance soon after.
Ruddock was patrolling on Stillwater Road around 7:30 p.m. when he spotted the distressed wheelchair driver on the side of the road. South County EMS took the driver to Baystate Franklin Medical Center for an evaluation.
The Department of Public Works was called to transport the chair to the driver’s residence with a trailer.
