DEERFIELD — A man in his 70s, who told police he fell asleep at the wheel, hit a parked highway truck on Routes 5 and 10.
According to Shelburne State Police, the accident occurred Thursday at 9:45 a.m., near the Elm Street intersection. At the time of the collision, highway workers were setting up to paint lane lines on Routes 5 and 10, and the setup truck contained orange safety cones. Damage to the truck was roughly estimated to be at least $1,000.
The driver, who has not been identified so far, was not injured, although his airbag was deployed.
The make and model of both the car and the truck were not immediately available Thursday.
