GREENFIELD — The Greenfield School Committee is looking to fill a vacancy following the resignation of vice chairwoman Francia Wisnewski last week, who will move to Montague.
Wisnewski, who heads the Health, Safety, Security and Facilities subcommittee, is in her second term on the committee. Her last day will be Aug. 1.
Those interested in the seat are encouraged to email committee Chairman Timothy Farrell at timfar1@gpsk12.org or send a letter to Tim Farrell, School Committee Chair, Greenfield Public Schools, 141 Davis St., Greenfield, MA 01301, by Aug. 3.
When a vacancy on the School Committee occurs for any reason, the remaining members of the committee share the responsibility for filling it, according to school department policy.
A candidate must receive a majority of the votes of the members entitled to vote. Those elected to fill a vacancy by the committee shall serve only until the next regular election in early September 2017, at which time the vacancy will be filled by the voters.
