Greenfield completed a perfect 5-0 record Sunday morning by beating Southampton, 9-7, to win the 10-and-under division of the Belchertown Mini-Fenway Tournament.
Greenfield trailed Southampton until the bottom of the fifth when it scored three runs to erase a 7-6 deficit. Michael Pierce singled home Bryce Avery with the go-ahead run during the rally.
George Mercorelli and Brodie Gagne both finished with two hits and one RBI while Pierce and Avery each added one hit and one RBI.
Jake Petrin struck out four in two innings to earn the win in relief of Avery.
Greenfield completed bracket play Saturday with a 10-4 win over Longmeadow.
Gagne had four hits, including two doubles, and one RBI to lead the locals. Dylan Archer (RBI) and Nico Fasulo added three hits apiece, and Avery and Pierce each chipped in two hits and two RBIs.
West wins bronze
The West squad captured the bronze medal during the Girls’ Basketball Showcase Division (grades 9-12) of the Bay State Summer Games over the weekend at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Roxbury Crossing.
After a 1-1 Friday, West went 2-1 over the weekend — beating Coastal (62-48), losing to Central (52-49) and beating Metro (57-40) — to qualify for bronze medal game, where it downed Northeast, 68-58.
Raegan Hickey of Greenfield and Jess Scoville and Caroline Merkle of Pioneer were all part of the West team.
Greenfield Open
Cody Booska fired a 4-under-par 68 to capture low gross in the Blue Division of the 2016 Greenfield Open at the Country Club of Greenfield.
David Donoghue posted a 69 to finish alone in second. Jim Patterson and Nate Burdick both shot 72 to a share of third, while Bob Linn, Chris Ferriter and Steve Jones all tied for fifth at 73.
Mark Osborn had the low-net score with a 65. Chris Austin and Will Conant tied for second at 68 and Keith Stone was fourth with a 69.
John Dempsey and Phil Phillips both carded 74s to tie for low gross in the White Division. Bill Dowd was third with a 76.
Doug Taylor and John Flemming tied for fourth at 77 while Bill Conant and Chris Demers each shot 78 to share sixth place.
Brandon Fleming claimed low net with a 63, followed by Shaun Fleming at 66. Irving Sanders, Ken Modzelesky and Paul French all tied for third at 67.
CFC Women’s Two-Ball
Chris Eugin made a 10-foot par putt on the first sudden-death playoff hole to help her and Terry Boyce defeat Fran Vandermeer and Cindy Hedge and win the Women’s Open Two-Ball Championship at Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston.
Both teams finished the 18-hole event at 79.
Therese Romano and Anita Saville posted a 65 to win the net division.
Drelich ace at CFC
Don Drelich of Stamford, Conn., registered a hole-in-one Sunday on the 127-yard, par-3 15th hole at Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston.
Drelich used a 7-iron for the ace. It was witnessed by Bob Shea and Kevin Williams.
Summer clinic
Frontier varsity field hockey coach Missy Mahar will conduct her annual clinic for Union 38 girls in grades 3-7 on July 26 and 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Frontier Regional School.
The clinic will focus on skill development through a variety of drills and learning scenarios. Sticks and shin guards will be provided with an equipment deposit of $50. Registration fee is $5. Participants are asked to wear a mouth guard and bring a water bottle.

Elms track benefit
A 3.5-mile road race will be held July 30 in Northfield to benefit the new track and field team at Elms College in Chicopee.
The race will start at Northfield Town Hall at 10 a.m., with registration beginning at 9:15 a.m. Registration fee is $7 per person, and children under 12 years old can run for free.
The low-key race is open to participants of all ability levels who may choose to run or walk the course. Prizes will awarded to the top three male and female finishers.
Funds raised will help raise money to buy uniforms, equipment and other necessities for the new track and field team, which will compete in its inaugural season in the spring of 2017.
In case of severe weather (such as a thunderstorm), the race will be moved to July 31.

Montague Mug Race
The 36th annual Montague Mug Race will be held on Aug. 20 in Montague Center.
The 5.5-mile race begins at 8:30 a.m. from the Village Common. Pewter Mugs are awarded to top male and female finishers, and coffee mugs are given to the to top finishers of each division. T-shirts will be available for the first 90 runners.
Now in its 12th year, the 2-mile Mini Mug Race will kick off at 8:35 a.m.
Both races will finish at the ball field. All runners are entered into drawing for local prizes.

The 22nd annual Don Maynard Memorial 5-Mile Road Race and 3-mile walk will held Sept. 17 at 9:30 a.m. at the Greenfield Municipal Swimming Area.

PV pole vault school
The Pioneer Valley Pole Vault School in Bernardston is open by appointment for individual and group lessons through the fall with negotiable rates.
Lessons will be taught by Pioneer Valley Regional School track and Northfield Mount Hermon pole-vault coach Jim Bell, himself a Masters pole vaulter.
