NEW SALEM — The New Salem Recreation Committee sponsors free swimming lessons, provided by Athol Area YMCA swimming instructors, at Lake Mattawa every year.
The first week this year is July 18 through July 21 (make-up day is July 22) and the second week is Monday through Thursday (make-up day is Friday). There is a beginner and an advanced class from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. To register and to find out more information, contact the Athol Area YMCA at 978-249-3305 or dbulmen@ymcaathol.org.
A child must be a New Salem or Wendell resident and be at least 3 years old to participate.
NEW SALEM — New Salem’s Old Home Day is scheduled for today on the town common.
ATHOL — On July 1, the town started using Lighthouse Payment Services, Inc., for the processing of payments for bills previously mailed to the Treasurer/Collector’s office. All bills sent to the town must now be sent to: Town of Athol, Department 5030, P.O. Box 4110, Woburn, MA 01888-4110.
A courtesy reply envelope will be included with your bill for your convenience, according to Athol’s website. If paying through your bank, update the mailing address to the one mentioned above.
ATHOL — The Athol Conservation Commission has moved to a new online reservation system for Paige Cabin, Duckpond Shelter and Buckman Brook Shelter.
ATHOL — The Athol Treasurer/Collector’s office will be closed on Wednesday and will reopen at 9 a.m. on Thursday. It will be open regular hours on Monday (9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and Tuesday (9 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
