CONWAY — Despite the dreary weather, the fourth annual Chesbro Challenge went ahead as planned Saturday at the town ball field.
The Challenge, which was put on with help from the town’s 250th anniversary committee, is a wacky game similiar to baseball.
Participants swing everything from tennis rackets to brooms, at every type of object imaginable — such as beach balls, volley balls and whiffle balls.
The game is named after baseball hall of famer Jack Chesbro, a local ballplayer who played on the Boston Red Sox among other major league teams in the early 1900s.
All proceeds from the event went toward the town’s 250th anniversary celebration.
CONWAY — It was a meditative atmosphere during the Shang Shung Institute of America’s open house July 2.
According to a news release, people came from as far away as Buffalo, N.Y., to dance, drink tea, and hear a lecture on mindfulness.
Afterward, participants tried out the meditation and learned about an ancient yoga practice called Yantra Yoga.
CONWAY — Solarize Mass will hold a meet-the-installer event today at 6:30 p.m. in the town hall.
During the event, town residents can learn how solar photovoltaic systems work and find out about solar loan programs.
According to a news release, residents can also purchase solar systems for a discounted rate through the program.
The event is part of a three-town program including Colrain, Shelburne and Conway, that offers residents the opportunity to bulk-purchase solar systems at a rate lower than it would cost to buy an individual system.
Sign up for the package deal ends later this year on Sept. 30.
