Douglas J. and Penelope M. Mollison of 414 Hawley Road, Ashfield, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise party at Mary Lyon Church in Buckland on June 19. More than 100 people were in attendance. Special guests were Reanna and Forest (Tom) Kane from Colorado. Reanna was Penny’s maid of honor. The party was hosted by Doug and Penny’s children and grandchildren. In addition to family and friends, there were attendees from many of the organizations in which Doug and Penny have been active volunteers including the Ashfield Fire Department, Highland Ambulance (where Doug serves as a Director) and Mary Lyon Church.

Mollison and the former Penelope M. Rice were married June 25, 1966 in Trinity Church, Shelburne Falls.

Penny is a 1965 graduate of Sanderson Academy. She has worked as a cook for both Sanderson Academy and Mohawk Trail Regional High School, a bus driver for the Franklin County Technical School and now runs a US Mail route.

Mollison graduated from Arms Academy in 1965. Doug was a dairy farmer for many years, then was employed by Mohawk School District as Director of Facilities until his retirement. He now runs a US Mail route with Penney.

The couple’s children are: daughter Karen A. Way and spouse, Christopher of Bradford, N.H.; son Bryan Mollison of Savoy; daughter Estella Henninger and spouse Timothy of Pittsfield, N.H. Grandchildren: Ethan Way, Lothian MD, Adam Way, Bradford, N.H., and Evan and James Henninger of Pittsfield, N.H.
