Greenfield, June 30

3:59 a.m. — Suspicious activity on the French King Highway where an officer located a motor vehicle with two people inside at the former Greenfield Area Animal Shelter building; a male says that the property used to belong to his family, but is now bank owned and he is anticipating the property being returned to his family, and he often spends time here; he was advised of trespassing, due to bank/town ownership, and they were moved along.

7 a.m. — A 911 silent call made from Beech Street where a grandson was upset because he can’t have his Game Boy, so he dialed 911; officer spoke with all in the home and all is safe.

9:17 a.m. — Suspicious activity reported on Columbus Avenue where the caller says people are in the area requesting access to yards for mosquito testing; they claim to work for the town, and were operating a blue truck, officer to check, and an unmarked unit is also checking the area but nothing found.

9:59 a.m. — Officer assisting a detail officer as a resident gave detail a hard time and then left in a green Honda Accord; the vehicle driver will be spoken with when he returns home.

10:42 a.m. — Caller from area of Deerfield and Meridian streets reports an Franklin Regional Transit Authority bus ran a red light and nearly struck her vehicle at that location; officer placed a call to the reporting person at 11 a.m., but no answer, and left a message.

1:03 p.m. — Shoplifting reported at Big Y Foods; officer to investigate, and found the person was cooperative, and gave correct information; Big Y will press charges on their own in this case.

1:12 p.m. — Disturbance reported at Chapman Street location where the caller says her friend and the friend’s boyfriend entered her home without permission; the boyfriend then kicked her dog; they are no longer on the scene; the reporting person wants to press charges, and she was advised of options.

1:42 p.m. — Malicious destruction of property, reported on Davis Street where the first report was made and officer to investigate; found the call was related to an earlier call when the registered owner found the involved male from that call actually cut her tire after leaving her house on Chapman Street the registered owner didn’t know it until she was driving to the police station to report the original call, and discovered a tire had gone flat; report with further details was filed.

8 p.m. — Accident reported at the D’Angelo’s Grilled Sandwiches on the Mohawk Trail where the caller reports the accident, but no injuries reported; no apparent damage observed on both vehicles, the operators exchanged information, and went on their way.

Montague, June 30

8:10 a.m. — Hit-and-run accident reported in front of a Center Street residence, and report of a wire torn down at that location; officer advises that a pole was struck sometime overnight and the pole is leaning considerably, and the officer requests Eversource to the scene; also requesting Montague Center Fire Department, to come to Federal and Center streets; both were notified; the Fire Department requests the water department to be notified as their pump station may be fed by the affected line; water department source reports the pumps aren’t running and wouldn’t be running for two days, so if Eversource has to disconnect the power, it won’t interfere with operations; two detail officers needed for four hours for repairs.

4:11 p.m. — Caller from Lake Pleasant Road requests an officer view a section of fence that has been ripped down and thrown a considerable distance, and the reporting person believes a male may be involved due to the recent situation with him; officer viewed the situation and cleared, officer advised an approximately five-foot section of the fence was removed from near the back of the property line by the woods; no proof that the male was involved.

4:15 p.m. — Caller from Main Street advising of a tree branch hanging over the road and debris from the branch is also in the road; the reporting person stated she doesn’t believe any wires are involved, but it was causing vehicles to move into the other lane to get around; officer advised and then requested DPW be contacted and there is quite a bit due to a dead fallen tree, which he was able to move it off the roadway; DPW will be sending someone out.

5:23 p.m. — Caller from the beach near the end of Poplar Street advising of a possible raft floating in the river, the reporting person first saw it from the General Pierce Bridge, but doesn’t see anyone around it or hear anyone in the area; the reporting person advised the raft may even be flipped upside down, and it appears stuck in the current where the two rivers meet; officer and Fire Department were advised; area checked, and the raft has been pushed down the Deerfield River; Fire Department will call Control to advise them; second caller from the area advising of another tube in the area, but then it appears to be the same raft seen before, and is further down the river now. Still under investigation. at this time.

7:18 p.m. — Officer requested on Turners Falls Road to review damage from what appears to be a vehicle that drove through the fence between properties; the reporting person didn’t see this happen, and the vehicle isn’t there; but a mirror was left behind; the reporting person could see the tracks coming off the road as well; officer investigating and the put out a BOLO for a white Hyundai, missing a driver’s side mirror, and probably has front driver’s side fender and/or bumper damage; it was also given to Shelburne Control and Greenfield Police.
