Gee, what a curious surprise, coming on the heels of Stop the Pipeline: TransCanada donates to Buckland! I imagine the amount — $50,000 — will not make a dent in the corporation’s $64 billion asset base. But it may delude some local folks into believing TransCanada has their best interests in mind.

Their website says their “vision” is “To be the leading energy infrastructure company in North America, focusing on pipeline and power generation opportunities in regions where we have, or can develop, a significant competitive advantage.” Maybe Buckland will give them an advantage next time the pipeline gets proposed. Maybe not. Depends on whether we’re awake to our own vision.
