ASHFIELD — St. John’s church in Ashfield invites the community to a picnic and cook-out Thursday, July 7, at 6 p.m., at “The Corner” parish house, opposite the church at 469 Main St. Food for the grill and some beverages will be provided; contributions of salads, chips, desserts and drinks are welcome. About 7 p.m., the cook-out will move inside to watch an hour-long documentary, “Discovering Dominga,” which tells about the villages in Guatemala served by the medical mission and both Bob Harris and Thomas Kreek serve in. NORTHFIELD — Trinitarian Congregational Church will continue its third-Saturday “New Day” casual worship service on July 16, from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Rev. Julie Olmsted, pastor of Trinitarian Congregational Church, and her husband, Jeff Olmsted, will lead the service. Jeff Olmsted has been conducting chants from the Christian as well as other faiths for many years. The church is located at 147 Main St. 413-498-2431.
