Haley Bigwood singled, doubled, homered and drove in three runs to lead Frontier to a five-inning, 17-5 win over Greenfield in Suburban Softball League 14-and-under action Wednesday evening at Zabek Field in South Deerfield.
Gabby Palmisano also belted a homer and knocked in three runs, Mandy Fuller and Aly Markowski both had a single and an RBI, and Maegan Quinlan, Katherine Hioe and Haley Zabko singled.
Quinlan struck out five to earn the win.
Suburban 12U
Rachel Dodge went 3-for-3 with five RBI but the Greenfield Grizzlies wound up dropping a 13-12 decision to Agawam A in a Suburban Softball League 12-and-under a contest Wednesday evening at Sacred Heart Fields in Agawam.
Kameryn Dearborn singled and tripled, Julia Kovalsick collected two hits, Kaitlin Trudeau tripled and Olivia Stafford singled for Greenfield.
Greenfield hosts Agawam B Friday night at 7 at Veterans Memorial Field.
Greenfield Co-Rec
Spirit Shoppe erupted for 13 runs in the seventh inning to erase a 15-14 deficit and beat Riff’s North, 27-15, in a Greenfield Co-Rec Softball League slo-pitch game Wednesday night at Greenfield Middle School.
Chris Desautels was 6-for-6 with five runs scored and Angelica Perfido went 5-for-6 for Spirit Shoppe.
Katrherine Scarbrough had four hits and Alex Mascari added three hits for Riff’s.
• At Hillside Park, Mitch and Ray Mailloux both went 3-for-4 with a double and a homer to lead Mike’s Bears over Hot-L Warren, 17-6.
Michael Dobias Jr. and Brenda Fletcher also went 3-for-4 for Mike’s.
Rorth Som went 4-for-4 with four doubles for Hot-L.
• At Unity Park in Turners Falls, Lorenzo Roman ripped six hits, including a homer, to power Montague Elks Lodge to a five-inning, 30-5 verdict over Hubie’s Tavern & Restaurant.
John Dawicki, who also homered, and Julia Smith both added five hits for Montague Elks.
Brian Ginnity had two hits, including a grand slam, and Jamie Poremba added two hits for Hubie’s.
John Curran fired an even-par 72 to win the Crumpin-Fox Singles Tournament Tuesday in Bernardston.
Tim Rice finished second with a 74, Tom Bergeron was next at 75, and Mike Korpita and Paul Nunez tied for fourth at 79.
Jordan Haskell claimed low net with a 64, John Mundorf took second with a 67, and Dick Barnes and George Anderson tied for third at 69.
Timmons Memorial League
Ray Kendrick and Doug Farrick won a match of cards and took low gross with a 37 in the Timmons Memorial Golf League Wednesday at Northfield Golf Course.
Low net went to Kyle Matteson and Ed Gillespie with a 25.
Trevor Blake was closest to the pin on No. 6 (15-8) and John Hodgman came closest on No. 7 (15-6).
Matteson was match medalist with a 38.
Greenfield Elks League
Larry Jubb and Gary Noga finished with 62 points to win the first half of the Greenfield Elks Golf League on Wednesday at the Country Club of Greenfield.
George Hall and Ed Underwood placed second with 54½ points, and Jim Jason and Ed Reagey came in third with 54 points.
Bob Ferris was closest to the pin on No. 5 (9 feet, 1 inch).
CFC Women’s
Diane Carme posted a 42 for low gross in the A Division of the Crumpin-Fox Women’s Golf League on Wednesday in Bernardston.
Mace Foehl-Hemphill was second with a 47.
Elaine Goodhind had a 31 for low net, while Tina Browne was second at 41.
In the B Division, Deb Putnam shot low gross with a 50 and Corky Sysun was next with a 55.
Carla Bernier’s 37 was good for low net. Therese Romano was second at 39.
Sysun was closest to the pin on No. 3 (18-0) and Carme was closest on No. 9 (21-6).
CCG Ladies 18-Hole
The Country Club of Greenfield Ladies 18-Hole Golf Division held a Cross Over Tournament Tuesday.
Teresa Varner won the A Division with a low gross of 35, while Sue Sigda claimed low net with a 25.5.
Low gross in the B Division went to Irene McDonald with a 37. Nikki Welsh carded a 23.5 for low net.
Edge Hill Ladies League
Robin Hartnett carded an A Division low gross of 42 during the Edge Hill Ladies Golf League on Wednesday in Ashfield.
Karen Hopkins and Terry Rae tied for low gross in the B Division at 51.
Judy O’Kula was closest to the pin on No. 10 (13-5).
