BERNARDSTON — A planned paving job at the elementary school could conflict with summer recreation programs.
Eric Glazier of the Bernardston Recreation Department spoke with Board of Selectmen Wednesday to negotiate the paving date for the Bernardston Elementary School parking lot.
The project, which is set to start July 11, interferes with the department’s annual summer program that has routinely been held at the school. The program runs from June 27 through July 29.
Glazier said that about 20 children have already registered for the third week of July, and he would need to issue refunds if the paving project were to continue as scheduled. It would be impossible to access the building or park cars during the paving, which is expected to take three days, if weather allows.
Glazier requested the board move the paving project to August. The board agreed to contact the contractors and request the start date be postponed, if their schedules allow.
BERNARDSTON — The selectmen have approved a false alarm policy.
The policy states that should police respond to an activated burglar alarm, and if a false alarm, the police can issue a warning or fine. On the first or second occurrence within a year, a warning is given. On the third or fourth occurrence, a $50 fine is issued. If a false alarm occurs more than four times in a year, the police can issue a $100 fine for each subsequence occurrence.
