9:20 p.m. — Caller from Vladish Avenue reports there was a bear walking through his front yard, and estimated the weight at about 150 pounds; last seen walking toward Turnpike Road, patrol units were advised.
10:18 p.m. — Greenfield Police got a call advising about two people on the White Bridge wearing dark clothing, and one person was on the railing of the bridge; Montague units responded; officers out with the people, and advised all units are clear, and the two people will be returning to their residence on G Street; the female states she was just leaning on the railing, no suicide statements were made.
3:38 a.m. — Burglar alarm at Cleary Jewelers on Main Street where the alarm shows right showcase glass; key holder will be on scene in five minutes; officer reports a broken front glass, to the building, and someone attempted to open a case; officer checking the train tracks at this time, no reason to stop the trains; officers performed an area sweep, but no one found.
8:10 accident at Harrison Avenue and Bernardston Road, officers and Fire Department responded; two vehicles involved, but no injuries reported, investigation leads to citations issued to both operators.
9:50 a.m. — Breaking and entering reported on Linden Avenue, officer to investigate; report issued, but no results listed on log.
7:38 a.m. — Vandalism reported on L Street where the caller says overnight, her vehicle was parked on the street in front of that residence and someone struck her side mirror; officer investigating reported it doesn’t appear to be a hit and run; it appears to be someone walking by punched or kicked the mirror, knocking it off; report taken.
8 a.m. — Shelburne Control reports there is a low hanging wire on Prentiss Street; officer sent; found to be a phone wire, and Verizon was advised.
12:40 p.m. — Walk-in requesting to speak with an officer about items that were removed, by her sister, from her mother’s gravesite, on South Main Street; officer spoke with her about her options.
2:52 p.m. — Control took a report of a horse in the road on Route 78; officer sent, but horse was gone on arrival.
5:10 p.m. — Control reports a call of a male walking on Walnut Hill road who was described as wearing a robe and possibly carrying a long rifle; officer responded, and spoke with the female who said she also saw him, but felt it to be a stick or a bow; area was searched but with negative contact.
5:15 p.m. — Reporting person came to the station to report her car was stolen from East Howe Street; under investigation.
7:32 a.m. — Accident with injuries, at Elm Street and Hall Avenue; officers and Fire Department responded; a motorcycle and a Honda Accord; road was closed; state police investigation teams on site, along with local officers; still under investigation.
9:54 a.m. — Disturbance at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, where a female was released from the ER and was found by Medcare personnel seated in the driver’s seat of a Medcare ambulance outside the ER; she was then readmitted to the hospital for mental health reason at the hospital’s request; the female agreed she wanted to go back into the hospital for help; no further police action at this time.
10:50 a.m. — Hazard on Haywood Street where the caller says a tree from the tree belt partially came into the caller’s yard, and there are branches on wires; officer and Fire Department responded; Eversource notified; officer advises the road is passable except for large trucks; Eversource crew arrived and repaired the situation and the road was opened.
10:53 a.m. — Accident reported at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center, Medical Office building on Sanderson Street, where the caller reports an accident, but with no injuries reported; officer found it to be minor damage and information was exchanged.
10:53 a.m. — Officers at Federal and Pleasant streets to serve a warrant; arrested was Heidi N. Gibson, 31, of Adams Road, Greenfield, on the warrant.
11 a.m. — Report of a large tree down on Wells Street; officer found it too large to move and requested town tree crew; DPW to remove the tree limb.
2 p.m. — Accident reported at Deerfield Street and Bank Row, two vehicles; rear-end accident; minimal damage, report issued
2:04 p.m. — Despondent person reported at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, where the caller says her 22-year-old daughter is walking away from the ER, with her comfort dog, and requesting our assistance getting her into the hospital; the female walked to the ER, and once there a Section 12 process was issued by Crisis Service.
3:40 p.m. — Disturbance at Fiske Avenue near Miles Street; caller from Mesa Verde reports a male and female were arguing and pushing each other; officers found it to be an ongoing argument, and they were having issues about an unborn baby; no pushing, it was an unwanted hug; they were separated, and advised to stay away from each other, and left in different directions.
5:37 p.m. — Welfare check requested at Oak Courts where the caller was worried that there was a child in a window, and that she could fall and get hurt; officer spoke with the resident, who stated that he saw the same, prior to officer’s arrival, and shut all the windows.
8:48 p.m. — Caller reports an elderly woman walking on the wrong side of the road holding a sign that says, “Orange,” and is walking toward Stop and Shop on French King Highway: officer sent, and arrangements were made for the officer to meet an Orange officer at the French King Restaurant on Route 2; the female was transferred to Orange Police.
11:19 p.m. — Crisis services called to tell police that a female has an 11-year-old boy at Holly Avenue that has been locked out of his family’s house, and says that they wouldn’t let him back in the house; the child walked over to the neighbor’s house; officers sent and returned the male to his home, and spoke with the parent; found to be an on-going issue.
11:46 a.m. — Caller from Daniel Shays Highway reports a minor two-vehicle accident at the Honey Farm’s parking lot, but no injury; officer found it to be under $1,000 damage and information was exchanged, for insurance purposes; one car struck the right front panel of the second car.
12:30 p.m. — Control advised that on West Main Street a reporting person would like an officer because she was locked out of her apartment after an argument; the officer responding spoke with all people involved and discussed the situation with them; peace was restored.
1:04 p.m. — Officer learned that a man in the old Bank of America parking lot has an active warrant; arrested was Devin Michael Hurlburt, 24, of East Howe Street, Orange, on the warrant.
1:35 p.m. — Control got a report of a motor vehicle accident on Brookside Road with injuries; on officer’s arrival they found one vehicle off the road into a tree; the operator was complaining of chest pains, and the Orange Fire Department Ambulance transported the patient to the Athol Memorial Hospital; one vehicle was towed.
11:10 p.m. — Report of a loud group of teens near a store on East Main Street and officer found three individuals, who were outside, and advised them of the complaint and to quiet down for the evening; a second caller , also called to complain, and that reporting person was spoken to, and advised to go to bed for the night.
11:30 p.m. — Report of six to eight youths in area of West Myrtle and Fountain streets that attempted to break into a motor vehicle and then threw something at a house; officer located the youths and determined that the owner of the vehicle belonged to one of the youths; also determined that the item thrown was a water bottle in an attempt to wake up someone in the house; all were sent on their.
12:20 a.m. — Officer speaking with a man in a Jeep at Home Depot in the western part of the parking lot; found to be the registered owner, was taking a break, after a long ride; he was moved along.
2:07 a.m. — Traffic stop on Federal Street at the CVS lot; found to be the registration had expired; the registration was renewed electronically by cell phone.
7:21 a.m. — Burglar alarm at the Registry of Motor Vehicles. on Miner Street, for the lobby and back door, north motion alarm and south motion; the call was canceled before officer’s arrived.
4:08 p.m. — A traffic stop with arrests at Grove Street, involving a 2002 blue BMW SE 530I. Licence suspended for operating vehicle without a registration. Charged with possession with intention to distribute a Class C drug.
