Chase Hill Farm will hold an open house at 74 Chase Hill Road in Warwick on June 12 from noon to 4 p.m. Help the farm celebrate 15 years of cheesemaking during Dairy Month. There will be farms tours, tastings, tours of the cheese room and caves and opportunities to meet some of the cows, calves and draft horses.
Red Fire Farm will host a tasting event, dinner and concert on June 18 at the farm at 184 Meadow Road in Montague. The annual Strawberry Soiree on Saturday will celebrate the farm’s local organic offerings while raising money for Mount Grace Land Trust Campaign for Affordable Farms. There will be free tastings, music, pick your own berries and a locavore dinner in the field. There will also be an outdoor concert at 8 p.m. featuring Jake Klar. The fun begins at 10 a.m. at the farm. The main event — tasstings — will be from 2 to 5 p.m. There will also be walking tours of the farm. Mulch Magic will be held at Laughing Dog Farm in Gill, 398 Main Road, on June 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The intensive, hands-on workshop will discuss the usefulness of mulch, including soil building and protection, water retention and weed suppression. Farmer Dan will share some “secrets.” The workshop is a 50-minute lecture-discussion of “mulch theory.” There is a suggested donation of $25 to $35, but no one will be turned away for inability to donated.
