DEERFIELD — A Warwick man was taken to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield with minor injuries Wednesday morning after the car he was driving was rear-ended by a truck on Routes 5 and 10 near Wells Street.

Deerfield Police Chief John Paciorek Jr. said the crash is believed to have happened after the driver of one car, a Subaru, had to suddenly stop or slow down, causing the truck, a Dodge Ram, to strike it.

The man was taken to the hospital by South County EMS.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Koch’s Towing. Traffic on Routes 5 and 10 was slowed, but the road was not shut down.
