GREENFIELD — The Sustainable Greenfield Implementation Committee will hold an open house Friday to give members of the community an opportunity to learn about progress being made toward the vision laid out in the town’s Sustainable Master Plan and to offer their input.

The event will be held as part of Greenfield’s First Friday celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Franklin Community Co-op new offices at 170 Main St. Refreshments will be served — including a Sustainable Greenfield birthday cake — and attendees will be able to offer their input on next steps in the effort to achieve the vision of a more sustainable Greenfield.

Six informational and information-gathering sessions will be held on a variety of topics, including parks and recreation; energy; the Department of Public Works; green infrastructure and trees; housing; and transportation and wayfinding.

During the sessions, attendees can learn about Greenfield’s parks and summer activities for children, incentive programs such as Solar Loan, woodstove change-outs and a $500 incentive to help homeowners switch out sump pumps, as well as how to make Greenfield greener by attracting birds and pollinators to yards, reducing heating costs and cleaning up the rivers.

The sessions will also give attendees an opportunity to share ideas on how to best meet future housing needs, where to create safe biking routes and walking improvements and to comment on the town’s new wayfinding signs.
