GILL — Gill Church will be sponsoring the town’s Memorial Day event, beginning at 9 a.m. for coffee and social hour. A Memorial Day-themed service will start at 10 a.m. followed by a Rose Ceremony at the town memorial site. Pastor Gary Bourbeau will speak at the service with Selectman Greg Snedeker providing musical accompaniment and addressing the gathering at the monuments. The Oak Ridge Detachment Marine Corps League color guard, the Damons playing Taps and bagpiper Phelan Muller will be participating. Special thanks to the Memorial Committee for their efforts in organizing this important event. ATHOL — Pastor Beverly Prestwood-Taylor of the Athol Congregational Church will lead a special ecumenical service of remembrance, with honor guard, at 11:15 a.m., near the “We Remember …” display on the Uptown Common. Following the service, there will be light refreshments at the church (1225 Chestnut St.).
ASHFIELD — St. Johns Episcopal Church will hold its annual Ann Browning Poetry Reading, featuring Daniela Gioseffi, Wednesday, June 1, at 7 p.m. in the church.

CHARLEMONT — Charlemont Federated Church invites public input on the church’s long-range planning, according to Rev. Cara Hochhalter. “Under the facilitation of David Specht, the church will be embarking on a series of three conversations around who we have been, where we are not and how we want to move into the future. We know that many people in the surrounding communities have been involved in the church in a variety of ways. We welcome their input and invite them to attend any or all of the following opportunities for conversation.”
