BUCKLAND — A 39-year-old Buckland man was summoned to court after police say he drunkenly pulled a handgun during a fight with his ex-girlfriend, but did not point it at her.

Michael Wall was arraigned in Greenfield District Court Tuesday on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and carrying a firearm while intoxicated. He was also ordered to surrender his firearms license and all firearms and ammunition.

According to a report by Buckland police officer Kurt Gilmore, officers were dispatched to Wall’s home on Howes Road for an abandoned 911 call on April 28. While they were on their way, the officers were advised that the reporting party, who said he called because his ex-girlfriend wouldn’t leave his property, had armed himself with a handgun, according to the report. Shortly thereafter they were advised the man had secured the gun in his house and would be waiting outside with his hands up.

Gilmore wrote he arrived at the house and approached the man, identified as Wall, to speak with him when he noticed a large, hunting style knife sheath on his bathrobe. Gilmore wrote that he also smelled alcohol, and Wall told him he had consumed a six pack of beer over the past four hours.

According to the report, Wall’s ex-girlfriend had gone to the house to trade a can of loose tobacco for an eighth of an ounce of marijuana and became upset when she noticed his new girlfriend’s vehicle in the driveway. During the argument, the woman told police, Wall opened up his bathrobe and took out a handgun, but did not point it at her.

Wall was released on personal recognizance following his arraignment on the condition he stay 50 yards away from the alleged victim. He is due back in court June 30 for a pretrial conference.
