4:07 p.m. — Town bylaw violation on Miles Street where officers saw a male consuming an alcoholic beverage in a plan paper bag; the person was identified, and the alcoholic beverage was disposed of at the scene, and the 53-year-old Hope Street resident will be summoned to court for having, or drinking from, an open container of alcohol in public.

4:22 p.m. — Town bylaw violation on the Veterans Memorial Mall where a male was cited for smoking in the Mall.

5:34 p.m. — Disturbance on the third floor of a residence on Union Street where a known person was banging on doors, screaming, and making threats to another known person, stating that he is, “going to break his legs,” and it turned out that a third person was trying to fix a door with a hammer, and one of the two males involved got upset, and words were exchanged.

6:16 p.m. — Report from Mountain Road of a possibly intoxicated male stumbling in the road; officers located the known male, and he was taken to his mother’s home at Park Villa Apartments where she let him in.

7:33 p.m. — Despondent person reported at Poet Seat Tower parking area by a caller who says the female in a car there keeps laying back and then sitting up but has been writing suicidal statements on the windows of the vehicle, and the caller witnessed the female write, “Life sucks” on her car window, as well as writing on a pad; caller asked if she should go and check if she is ok, but she was advised to stay away from the vehicle; the vehicle was secured and the known female was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, under a Section 12 process.

Montague, May 8

5:48 p.m. — A reporting person walking her dog called to say some sort of alarm is sounding at the Judd Wire Co. on Turnpike Road, and she could hear the alarm from an open door on the side of the building; officers sent and no fire alarm showing or contact from the alarm company. After some time an employee responded to some calls and a shift manager then arrived and doesn’t believe there was any foul play or theft that occurred. He will check in with their security to review tape and will contact police if needed; a female later came into the lobby and advised she checked the tape and didn’t see anything suspicious.

5:15 p.m. — Detectoguard reporting a commercial burglar alarm at the Montague Elks on Elks Avenue, and showing the, “motion near the trustees office,” key holder is en route; the janitor and the key holder will be resetting the alarm.

Orange, May 8

1 p.m. — Athol Police requested assistance with a large fight in front of the Steel Pub on Exchange Street; the altercation was done on arrival of the officers, and the people involved were separated for the night.

4:09 p.m. — Officer stopped a vehicle for no inspection sticker, and found a strong odor of marijuana; the owner/operator was issued a verbal warning for the inspection sticker, and the person provided the officer with a valid Cannabis Prescription Card; the person was in possession of under an ounce of marijuana.

7 p.m. — Reporting person on East Main Street says he was just at this location and there were two teenagers there trying to get him to purchase alcohol; officer spoke with the clerk who said he kicked them out, and he will call if they return.

7:20 p.m. — Officer on East Main Street and while stationary he saw a known male was going into a store there; the male placed under arrest was Edward B. Doucette, 28, of Ridge Road, Athol, on a default warrant.

Greenfield, May 9

1:09 p.m. — Traffic stop on Elm Street where investigation leads to arrest of Sandy Moya, 42, of Holyoke, charged with operating under the influence of liquor, failure to stop or yield, and operating under the influence of liquor with test of .08 or greater.

3:54 p.m. — Accident reported on Main Street, two vehicles involved; found to be a minor accident with no injuries, warning issued, information was exchanged.

4:57 p.m. — Larceny reported by a walk-in who says her iPhone was stolen from her bag in the locker room at the high school this afternoon; report taken.

11:01 p.m. — Hit and run reported on River Street where the caller says a “big white truck” came around the corner from Wisdom Way and knocked down her fence; but she was unable to get the plate number; it was last seen headed towards Dunkin’ Donuts; officer observed multiple sections of fence damaged; vehicle gone on arrival of police.

Montague, May 9

12:27 p.m. — Reporting person requesting an officer’s assistance locating a student from Sheffield Elementary School on Crocker Avenue that took off from school grounds, and was last seen walking on Montague Street; officer in the area, but then the reporting person called back to say the student has returned.

4 p.m. — Reporting person advising of a brush fire by the railroad tracks at East Main Street, on the embankment near the tracks; the reporting person stated it looks like it has just been set, but the reporting person didn’t see anyone else in the area; Turners Falls Fire Department was advised and an officer sent; Shelburne Control advised that when they signed on the air they had received a call for the same/similar on the Erving side of the river and would be toning them out as well; EFD arrived on scene at 4:15 p.m., and determined the fire was on the Erving side, but requested Turners Falls Fire Department to continue; officer confirms it is on the Erving side.

4:19 p.m. — Caller requested to speak with an officer regarding an incident involving himself and his wife at the Montague Bookmill while attending a wedding; the reporting person is reporting that while there, someone had recorded his wife, and since then has been posting things on Facebook; the reporting person says his wife is a teacher, and was notified about the posting by students; the posting has made several rude comments regarding his wife, and the reporting person is looking for options; conferred with the officer and found the recording happened in a public place, nothing illegal, and video can be reported on Facebook for removal; if issues with the same person continues, the reporting person should call back; the reporting person was advised, and the officer advised the reporting person how to request a record of this call.

4:46 p.m. — 911 caller advises a male who is intoxicated walking in the Fourth Street area; a female caller described the male as a white male, bald, no shirt, no shoes, white shorts, about six feet tall, with a beer belly, and said the male was belligerent and came into “someone’s apartment, trashed the place, and stormed out,” and was last seen on Fourth Street headed toward L Street; second caller advised of the same, but is now walking on Montague Street, near the ball fields; officer checking that area feels the male may have cut into the woods toward Park Villa, as the male’s mother lives there; the male was located on Letourneau Way walking toward Turnpike Road; an officer made contact with two kids on Letourneau who stated the male cut into the woods that go behind Park Villa; officers then located the male, and he was walked into his mother’s residence and is all set now.

6:53 p.m. — Caller from Montague City Road would like to speak with an officer, and she was given the business line to call back; the reporting person says her self propelled push lawnmower was stolen from her garage; she noticed it yesterday afternoon but didn’t report it at that time; there is no door to her garage, so it is always open; officer will respond to speak with her.

Orange, May 9

10:28 a.m. — Caller from Creamery Hill Road reports she has two TVs and other trash that is dumped on the side of the road onto her property; she has cleaned up the trash, but would like to know her options on the TVs; she was advised to call the Orange Highway Department, and to call back here if she comes across any information that could be used to identify the people who are involved.

12:42 p.m. — A clerk from the ER at Athol Hospital called to advise that a male was being treated for a BB gun wound, and the ER nurse treating him wanted to report it; the reporting person advised the male is being discharged and told them that it was accidental, from a friend of his; report taken.

3:17 p.m. — Caller from East River street reports a woman was just outside with four boxer type dogs and they got into a fight; she fell down and he is afraid she is hurt; she did get the dogs back inside; cruiser dispatched, and the officer spoke with the woman that fell, and she said that she didn’t sustain any injuries, and she didn’t want any medical attention.

Greenfield, May 10

12:02 a.m. — Caller from Charlene Manor Nursing Home on Colrain Road requests police as an employee saw a male crouched down by the horse pen; the male was described as in his 40s, with a baseball cap and tan pants; area checked by three officers, but no one located.

12:16 a.m. — Suspicious activity at River Street and the Mohawk Trail where an officer states she was out with a male fitting the description of the male from the previous call, but the male was first refusing to stop and talk; he was listening to music and hadn’t been able to hear the officer, but now says he is meeting a friend in the area on foot; he denied being the person reported to be found near the Charlene Manor.

1:14 a.m. — Unwanted person reported at Hope Street location where the caller reports that a woman was at her residence and she isn’t welcome there; the reporting person states the other woman walked into the house and grabbed the reporting person’s beer and caused the beer to spill on the floor; while speaking to the reporting person over the phone, the woman left the residence and headed toward Main Street; the reporting person was advised of a trespass option, but unable to locate.

1:32 a.m. — Traffic stop at High and Church streets, where investigation leads to arrest of Charles Little, 54, of Holyoke, on a warrant, and charged with operating with revoked license, possession of a Class B drug, possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and number plate violation. The person arrested requests Medcare for an evaluation; Medcare on scene, and will transport the prisoner to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, and later the prisoner was transferred to the house of correction.

4:41 a.m. — Suspicious activity reported at Wells Street where the caller says she believed she locked her door to her house, but the door is unlocked at this time and she is worried someone might be inside; she said that nobody has a key to her house; officers sent, and the house was cleared, with no items missing.

8:37 a.m. — Shoplifting reported at the New Inkwell News on Federal Street where a female was seen on the video screen putting something in her pocket; the reporting person gave officer information that the woman lived at the shelter; the reporting person requested that officers inform her that she was no longer welcome at the store; she was located and advised.

10:43 a.m. — Caller from Riverside Drive requests police check welfare of people at his address; the principal from Newton Street School has been trying to get in touch with parents of two children to pick up their younger child at school, for health concerns; the school would also like the older child to be checked on who hasn’t been in school for two days, and there has been no call as to why she isn’t in school; officer contacted and spoke with the dad, and he was advised.

12:21 p.m. — Hold-up/panic alarm from the Registry of Motor Vehicles. Found to be an accidental press of the button; an employee states she dropped her dinner plate on the button.

12:26 p.m. — Runaway reported from Victory House on Conway Street, but returned to a staff member at the Hillside Park, an officer located him there in the park with the staff member, and he was willing to go with them without incident.

12:27 p.m. — Fire alarm box activation, with a fire alarm cabinet open, at the high school on Barr Avenue, and found to be an accidental trip, when a backpack got stuck on it; fire department being requested to reset the alarm.

1:58 p.m. — Report of found money at Main and Conway streets, where the walk-in states she located the money there, with a medical ID card from Rite Aid; she said Rite-Aid currently has the medical ID card, and she attempted to locate the owner, but they kept the card and wouldn’t give her any information; the reporting person turned the money into dispatch.

4:53 p.m. — Burglar alarm at the Greenfield Recreation Department on Sanderson Street, where the dance floor motion detector was called in by the alarm company; the alarm company then called back to request a cancellation of the response; it was cancelled.

5:07 p.m. — Disturbance at Mill Street and Bank Row where the caller reports six people are drinking and arguing in the woods; officers sent and didn’t see any argument; the people there indicated it was two people leaving Valley Mart.

5:28 p.m. — Report of a lost and found black leather wallet, with red inside, and was at King’s Gym; found to have a medical marijuana card, several other cards, one Keno ticket and $338. The wallet, cards and money were sealed in an evidence bag.

6:03 p.m. — Caller reporting her friend’s boyfriend is outside screaming and threatening her, and the reporting person says he carries a knife in his vehicle; found to be an argument between the reporting person and her roommate’s boyfriend over past due rent that the roommate owes the reporting person; the situation was discussed with officers, and the roommate left, with some of her property, and made arrangements to get the rest tomorrow.

6:06 p.m. — Disturbance at Heather Court where the caller says that her boyfriend just came over and is being destructive and throwing her child’s toys; the caller denies any weapons, and suspect is now at his residence across the street; the caller denies any substances or intoxication being involved; and the caller states she would like to get her kids toys, and bring them inside; found to be a verbal fight with things being thrown around the yard; services rendered.

6:12 p.m. — Caller from Adams Direct Mail on Elm Street reports a group of five to eight kids took his “skullcandy headphones.” he also reports kids, “are doing drugs in the park,” and identified two of them, but the caller was unable to provide a clothing or any description of the individual who took his property; shortly after the response was cancelled by the reporting person, as the headphones were located.

6:51 p.m. — Accident reported at the Four Rivers Charter Public School, on Colrain Road, two vehicles involved, but no injuries reported; minor damage services rendered.

9:48 p.m. — Caller on Wisdom Way reports hearing what she believes to be a person screaming for help; officer determined it to be animals making normal noises.

10:21 p.m. — Report of a vehicle at Poet’s Seat Tower Road; officer advised the occupants that the park closes at 10 p.m., and they were moving on.

Montague, May 10

12:44 a.m. — Clerk at F.L. Roberts station/store on Third Street reports a shoplifting that happened four or five minutes prior to the call; reporting a white male, brown and blond hair with small pony tail, beard, dark hoodie, and dark gray sweatpants, left on foot, in unknown direction, the reporting person believes he took multiple bags of candy; officer checking but no one found; under investigation.

5:10 a.m. — Caller from James Avenue reports there is a bear around her home, but no action needed.

2:17 p.m. — Caller from Routes 5 and 10 in Deerfield reports a vehicle struck a guardrail south of Richardson’s Candy store and left the scene without stopping; the reporting person followed the vehicle and advised it was last seen in Montague turning from Montage City Road onto Masonic Avenue, and the reporting person saw damage to the right side of the vehicle; the plate number was given to police. Officer found the operator, who admitted to hitting the guardrail but didn’t feel he needed to stop and report it; officer here took pictures of the damage to the vehicle, and then Deerfield Police requested a copy of the damage.

7:56 p.m. — Reporting person advises there was a belligerent male just inside the Rite Aid store on Avenue A who was yelling and swearing; the male then left following a female out of the store; the reporting person says the male was trying to get this female’s attention by tapping on her shoulder; the reporting person told the male to leave, and he left, but now went into Food City; officer was advised; the female came to the lobby at the station advising of the same incident, and she was the one followed out of the store; she said the male appeared to be a bit delusional; officer investigating.

10:43 p.m. — Caller from Turners Falls Road called and believes her washing machine is on fire; she said she can’t see flames, only smoke; the person isn’t alone in the apartment, and was advised, if safe to do so, to exit the building; officer and Turners Falls Fire Department were advised; fire engine then on scene, and advised it was a washing machine, but no fire, and no other assistance needed.

Orange, May 10

9:04 a.m. — Vehicle being repossessed on West Orange Road and the person who had the vehicle is aware of it. Later at 11 a.m. another vehicle was repossessed, this time on High Street, and the woman there was aware of it.

3:20 p.m. — Caller reports teenagers on the roof of the old school on South Main Street; officer sent, and found it to be on the shed roof that is attached to the back of the school; they were spoken with, and advised to stay off the roof; names of four teens were taken.

5:40 p.m. — Caller from West Myrtle Street told Shelburne Control she would like to speak with an officer regarding a suspicious substance that was found in her son’s room; this is under investigation.

5:43 p.m. — Control took a report of a minor accident on East Main Street where one vehicle backed up and side swiped another vehicle; one vehicle was parked, waiting for someone to come out of the store; damage appeared under $1,000, and operators were going to exchange information and to contact their insurance agencies.

8:58 p.m. — Control received a burglar alarm coming from the Fisher Hill School; officers checked the exterior of the building and found it was secure; no key holder responding.

Greenfield, May 11

12:07 a.m. — Runaway reported from the Key Starr program on Park Street, where the female took off running down Main Street toward Interstate 91; she was filed as a missing person a month ago, but they picked her up earlier today, and was taken out of the system as a runaway; they advised DCF they will have to fill out a new form for the female to go back into the system, but an officer then located the runaway at Main and Davis streets, stopped her, and detained her at Main and Chapman streets until DCF personnel arrived; they were transporting the female back to the Starr program at 12:35 a.m.; officer noted that when she was located at Davis and Main, as the officer approached, she sprinted away; but was located by another officer a block down the road, and was taken back to Park Street from where DCF removed her from the scene.

12:54 a.m. — Threat received at the police station from a caller who said there was going to be a revolution that the country and the three percent is going to rise, and they need to take back the Constitution of America, and “s—t is about to go down,” and “the country is run by a bunch of tyrants and we got a bunch of punk-ass cops that are about to get f—-d up.” Shelburne Control and Montague dispatch were advised of the call, and all units were advised that the reporting person called back and said, “Tell Tommy he is first.”

8:45 a.m. — Despondent person reported at ServiceNet location on Prospect Street where a Section 12 was received for a male who was then transported by officers to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, and was released to hospital security and the nursing staff was advised.

10:49 a.m. — Disturbance at Registry of Motor Vehicles office on Miner Street where the reporting person says his wife called him stating a male that she believes is mentally unstable attempted to take the plates off her vehicle and when she asked him to stop, he started to take pictures of her and her vehicle; the reporting person states then when he hung up the phone with his wife, she stated he was now hugging a tree; state police handled; Greenfield officer assisted and found the owner of the vehicle in the call was having delusions, and was taken to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, by Medcare, on a Section 12 process.

12:05 p.m. — Disturbance reported at Greenfield Country Estates on Adams Road where the reporting person states her daughter is there throwing water, yelling and spitting; officers responded, and then the parents advised she was unwanted, and it was when the female refused to leave that she was taken into custody; arrested was Heidi N. Gibson, 31, listed as homeless in Greenfield, for trespassing.

2 p.m. — Officer serving a warrant in the station lobby; arrested was Thomas James Costello, 26, of Glenwood Avenue, Orange, on a warrant.
