MONTAGUE — Incumbent Marjorie Levenson and newcomer Heather Katsoulis each won a three-year seat on the Gill-Montague School Committee in Monday’s election.
Levenson of 25 Turners St. in Lake Pleasant won 315 votes, while Katsoulis of 89 High St. in Turners Falls won 344 votes. After six terms on the School Committee, Joyce Phillips of 18 Vladish Ave. in Turners Falls received 276 votes and will end her career serving the district.
About 548 voters came out to the polls for an almost 9 percent turnout.
Levenson will continue serving the school district. This is her third three-year term on the committee.
Originally from outside Boston, she owns a home in Lake Pleasant and has lived in Montague since the early 1980s.
Levenson is the co-owner of Squash Inc., an independent produce and cheese company, specializing in local products.
While campaigning, she promised to guide the district to get more state aid and increase transparency within the School Committee. She considers herself an advocate for parents and students.
Katsoulis will begin her first term on the committee.
Born and raised in the Pioneer Valley, she has lived in Turners Falls for four years with her husband and two children.
She hopes to curb the amount of students opting out of the district and increase funding for district schools.
Incumbent Christopher M. Boutwell Sr. also won an uncontested three-year term in the Monday election. This will be his third term on the board.
Montague Housing Authority:
Judith Hastings got 418 votes. Matthew McMullin got 8.
Board of Assessors, two-year term: Ann Zenzano received 336 votes. Patricia Pruitt received 159 votes.
Public Library Trustee, two-year seat: Robert Traynor got 332 votes, David Harmon got 146 votes.
Board of Health, three-year term: Albert Cummings.
Town clerk: Debra Bourbeau.
Treasurer: Patty Dion.
Board of Assessors, three-year term: Terry Miner.
Parks and Recreation: Albert Cummings.
Tree Warden: Mark Stevens.
Library Trustee, one-year seat: David Harmon received 20 write in votes.
