7:33 p.m. — Suspicious activity reported in area of the Miles and Main streets where the caller reports a hand-to-hand transaction, and caller says that a male walked up to (a known male) and handed him money, who then, in turn, handed the male a clear baggie; the caller said she heard the man call (the man who gave the baggie) by a nickname; he was described as being a tall male, wearing a gray sweatshirt and shorts; officers sent, unable to locate.
8:37 p.m. — Officer on patrol saw a vehicle and operator driving about 55 to 60 mph north on Chapman Street near Chapman Court; the officer was unable to stop the vehicle until Wells and Allen streets, and the officer issued a citation for speeding.
9:01 p.m. — Disturbance reported at CVS on Federal Street where the caller says a male is outside, and has urinated on several vehicles; the caller says a customer came into the store and stated, “he just whipped it out and started peeing on my car.” He was described as white male, about 60 years old, 5 feet, 2 inches, wearing an Army type jacket and is sitting outside the door. The male was gone on arrival of police. and left in a vehicle, but no plates given.
11:57 p.m. — Officer checking a vehicle on the parking lot at CVS with occupants inside; found to be a female registered owner, and her two adult daughters, and all three are currently homeless due to a falling out with a friend they had been staying with; they were advised to seek an alternate refuge at a different location, to avoid problems with CVS; they were given a suggestion of the rest area by the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
12:59 p.m. — Caller from Montague City Road reports a tree that appears to have split and it may fall; subject from DPW was advised and he stated that he had contacted Eversource three week ago about this issue; another call was made to Eversource, and they will send someone out; the road was closed from Turners Falls Road to Walnut Street until the DPW and Eversource cleaned up, and then the road was reopened.
3:50 p.m. — Reporting person came into the lobby to says his vehicle hit a deer on Federal Street this morning, near Sirum Equipment Co.; officer spoke with the operator and will be looking at the damage; the reporting person said the deer appeared fine, and it got up and ran away; damage is to the driver’s side front fender and door; the reporting person has already contacted his insurance company.
4:01 p.m. — Unwanted person reported at the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Avenue A, where the reporting person says the male is inside the store again, and she noted that she called police twice last week regarding the man; she said she did have a restraining order against the male, but that has since expired, and she would like to reinstate or get an harassment prevention order. Officer responded, and found the man was still inside, and he was asked to leave and he did so, but didn’t become upset and didn’t make any sort of scene until he left the store and joined a woman in a car in the lot.
1:30 a.m. — Suspicious activity reported on Oxbow Road where the caller advised someone is trying to gain access to her home through the back sliding glass door; officers on scene and checked the perimeter, but unable to locate anyone.
8:45 a.m. — Larceny reported on South Main Street where the reporting person says someone stole flowers out of the owl planter in front of the Trail Head last night; they were yellow pansies; report taken.
12:48 p.m. — After conclusion of an investigation, a 33-year-old Orange resident is being summoned to court for unlawful wiretapping.
1:20p.m. — Orange Fire Department is responding to a large fire outside on Dexter Street; it was found to be a permitted outside fire.
1:45 p.m. — Control advised suspicious activity reporting person from a store on East Main Street would like to speak with an officer about a suspicious female; on arrival the officer spoke with the female and she requested to be transported to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, and she was removed to the hospital; she was also trespassed from the business location.
7:24 p.m. — Illegal dumping reported at on East Myrtle Street where the caller says a deer carcass was thrown over her fence onto her property, and believes it was done by a neighbor whom she has had issues with in the past; officer took information and due to the circumstances, the Environmental Police were contacted and they will follow up.
11:28 p.m. — Officer stopped a vehicle for defective equipment, a loud exhaust, and a warrant; arrested was Joshua Richard Sawyer, 26, of Federal Street, Greenfield, on the warrant from Orange District Court.
12:41 a.m. — Hit and run on Bernardston Road, where a vehicle struck a supporting pole that holds a pole, with no primaries down; Eversource requested to the scene; the pole had a guy-wire attached and it was across the road; Eversource on scene at 1:30 a.m.; fire command reports the pole has been removed and the guy-wire is disconnected; the motor vehicle had been found but no one was in it on first arrival; tow truck notified for pick up of the vehicle. A 29-year-old female from Riverside Drive in Greenfield, is being summoned to court for marked lanes violation, leaving the scene of property damage, operating after license or right to operate, was revoked, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
2:09 a.m. — Disturbance at Bradford Drive where a verbal argument between friends, had been heard by a caller who stated she could hear a loud thud coming for next door, and was advised to call us if she heard anything; officer spoke with a person who says she was playing on her friend’s phone when a text message appeared, and her friend mistook her for snooping through his phone and got upset; verbal only between friends. Second caller advised us she headed a man yelling at a woman saying, “do you want to die tonight?’
2:39 a.m. — Caller from Sanderson Street says she is homeless and has been seen and released from the hospital here, and would like to get to her car to keep warm; officers sent, and the caller was transported back to her car across the road from the Farren Care Center.
9:16 a.m. — Unwanted person reported at the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Hope Street where a subject is yelling at the clerks and refusing to leave the store; officer sent and the subject was advised in the officer’s presence that he wasn’t welcome in the store and needed to leave; the subject didn’t leave until he was advised if he refused, he would be arrested for trespassing; the store is looking into obtaining a trespass order due to this incident, and past violent history in other stores with this individual.
918 a.m. — Disturbance report near Antonio’s Pizza Shop on Main Street where the caller said the involved male is swinging a knife around at people there; officer on the scene and has one person in custody; arrested was Joseph A. Hayward, 66, of Wells Street, Greenfield, charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
11:06 a.m. — Caller from area of Chapman and Arch streets reports a manhole cover is standing straight up at this location, DPW was advised.
7:35 a.m. — Caller from Randall Wood Drive reports she noticed an animal in her outside doghouse this morning and believes it may be deceased, but is unsure; ACO notified, and then on the scene, and advised this is a deceased fox that appears to have mange; the APO had the animal and will be taking it for proper disposal.
7:59 a.m. — Caller from Lake Pleasant Road reports a black pickup is parked near the high-tension lines, and she stated she saw the same truck there yesterday morning as well, and is concerned due to where it is parked; officer responded, and found it appears that the truck belongs to someone hunting in the area.
1:34 p.m. — Welfare check requested on Arnold Lane where the resident didn’t respond for Meals on Wheels; officer responded, and spoke with the female, who forgot to unlock her door before Meals on Wheels arrived, which isn’t normal; determined no services needed.
1:44 p.m. — Traffic stop at Church and Federal streets where investigation leads to arrest of Robert W. Rogers, 28, of Spring Terrace, Greenfield, on a warrant.
2:58 p.m. — Larceny reported at Animal Crackers on Deerfield Street where the 911 caller states a Hispanic male with black shorts, a black jacket and a white headphones, reached into the reporting person’s car, and stole his girlfriend’s phone, officers responded but were unable to locate anyone matching the description; the reporting person didn’t see the item taken from the vehicle, just found a bystander suspicious; area checked and then cleared.
3:25 p.m. — Robbery reported a the end of the bike path on Nashs Mill Road, where the 911 caller states that a man approached him and his friend on the bike path, and told them that he had a gun, and that he wanted them to give him their money; they complied; and the male was described as being a darker skinned male, black mullet hair cut, and a blue shirt; he left on a bike toward Nash’s Mill; officers found the youth and arrested was a 14-year-old juvenile, and charged with armed robbery.
3:41 p.m. — Disturbance reported at the Winslow building on Wells Street where the caller reported a black male was sitting out back, blowing an air horn; the man in the car was advised to discontinue the air horn use.
4:05 p.m. — Report of an 11-year-old child who didn’t get off the bus today, and is missing; unable to locate the child, the reporting person then called back to say they found her at a friend’s house nearby, and no problems found.
5:10 p.m. — Accident at Elm and Allen streets where two cars collided, but with minor damage; information was exchange.
5:33 p.m. — Reporting person calling from Chapman Street says she was transported to the hospital two weeks ago and now she is in respite; she went to get items from her apartment for the first time since she was hospitalized and saw, someone else’s belongings in her apartment and had several items missing; same to be investigated.
6:58 p.m. — Disturbance on Harris Court off Pray Drive where the caller reports her neighbor is threatening her children with violence; caller then spoke to the other involved female who said the reporting children were in an argument, and when she attempted to resolve it; the neighbor’s child swore at her repeatedly, and got his mother, who threatened to, “flatten,” her; officers spoke with both adults, and found it to be an altercation between children that the parents then took part in; they were advised to let each other alone, and the children separated.
8:07 p.m. — Caller from Beacon and Federal streets report the light at this intersection have been turned, and are giving improper red and green lights in the wrong direction, situation investigated.
7:17 a.m. — Caller from Dunkin’ Donuts on the Mohawk Trail states there is a patron there yelling at an employee, and states it’s just verbal at this time, but getting loud; the reporting person called back to state, the two people have parted ways.
8:29 a.m. — Accident at Russell and James streets, but no injuries reported, two vehicles involved, and report taken.
9:06 a.m. — Reporting person from Cumberland Farms on Federal Street states there is a blonde female soliciting money from customers in the parking lot; she says the female’s machine is a red Dodge sedan, and while she was monitored by an officer, nothing else was observed and then she drove away.
1:05 a.m. — Suspicious activity reported on East River Street from where caller stated that a red vehicle is parked by the dumpster at that location, and it appears they are sleeping; on officer’s arrival they found one person to be passed out, with drug paraphernalia and other items on his lap; the officer was able to wake the male, and he became alert and said there were no other drugs in the vehicle or on him; the male agreed to go to Athol Hospital to be evaluated for his use of heroin; the vehicle was left where it was, and will be removed in the morning.
2:20 a.m. — While on patrol an officer found a male sitting on the side of the road; the officer spoke with the man who stated he had an argument with his wife and was out for a walk and stopped to take a rest; he was advised to try and find a safer spot to rest.
12:07 p.m. — Control advised they got a call stating there are two small children playing on the outside third-floor staircase, without any supervision; contact was made with the mother, and the kids were brought inside.
4:35 p.m. — Control reports a caller who says her grandmother is at a West River Street location and may be in need of assistance; her vehicle was described, and both units responded and located it with the owner inside; it was found that she had gotten lost and was running low on gas; arrangements were made for her to follow the officer to the police station, where the family will come and pick her up.
8:20 p.m. — Walk in from East River Street stating she and her sister were riding their bikes home, when a man on a motorcycle, stopped and asked their names, and if they were close to home; he was reported to be on a black motorcycle; an officer escorted them home.
1:40 a.m. — Suspicious activity reported at Conway and Willow streets where the officers were out with suspicious activity; an officer found a female to be in possession of approximately 10 bags of heroin, along with 20 empty bags of heroin; the 23-year-old female from Arch Street and will be summoned to court for possession of heroin, subsequent offense.
1:49 a.m. — Disturbance on Wells Street where the reporting person states that her upstairs neighbor “is at it again,” yelling and throwing things in her apartment; the noise woke up the reporting person and her son; officers are all on calls, but will respond when clear; officer spoke to the known female who stated she was upset about an incident that happened last night, she declined any further assistance.
1:51 a.m. — Assault and battery reported at Goodies Restaurant on Federal Street where the caller says that his girlfriend had punched him in the face, and caused him to bleed and his face to swell up; the reporting person states it occurred because he and his girlfriend got into an argument, over “provocative dancing,” but the caller refused to give the name of his girlfriend. Officer spoke with him, and the male isn’t looking for any other assistance, except for the incident being logged, he refused to provide any information about his girlfriend, other than his phone keep receiving text messages which he stated were her; investigation leads to arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile, charged with assault and battery on a family or household member,
1:53 a.m. — Hazardous conditions reported from Federal Street to Greenfield High School, where the reporting person states there are cones thrown in the roadway from the construction in the area.
5:19 a.m. — Report from Hope Street of a male laying down and not moving; officers sent, MedCare on scene.
12:52 p.m. — Accident at Rite Aid on Main Street where the caller reports a two-car accident but no injuries reported, officer sent, and report issued.
5:58 p.m. — Elm Street caller says she is hearing strange sounds from her home and can’t identify where they are coming from; officer sent and found the noise to be coming from a child’s battery-operated toy; the toy was turned off, no further issue.
6:37 p.m. — Caller from Main Street reports a female, known as A.T., appears to be highly intoxicated as the female has been walking into traffic and has almost been struck, description given, and says she was seen passing past the Country Jeweler’s, and then passing Wilson’s store, but caller then lost visual and believes the female may have turned around; the 38-year-old female from Wells Street was located and placed in protective custody.
11:41 p.m. — Female from Third Street came into the lobby and requested an officer, regarding someone standing outside her door; the reporting person states that about 10:35 tonight, she went to leave for work, out of the rear door; there was a white female in a red hoodie standing at the door. looking in; that female was startled, and ran down stairs, and went into the second-floor apartment; officer en route to speak with the reporting person, and she was advised of her options by that officer, who will follow up with the reporting person tonight; the reporting person was advised to contact the landlord about making the apartment more secure, and the officer will then go to attempt to make contact with the second-floor tenant; the officer did speak with the female who stated she was the person at the rear door, but said she was looking at her car, and had no other intent.
1:20 a.m. — Shelburne Control got a call about a loud party and large bonfire on Lincoln Avenue; officer spoke with the homeowner who will keep the noise down and put out the fire.
11:30 a.m. — General disturbance reported on West Main Street where a reporting person told Control that a male was out of control and is throwing things around the apartment; on officer’s arrival they spoke with all people involved, and discussed the situation; peace was restored.
4:40 p.m. — Caller from Fountain Street reported a minor two-car accident, with no injuries reported, on arrival an officer found one vehicle had backed into a parked vehicle, officer unable to locate the owner of the parked vehicle, and will follow up later.
4:44 p.m. — Control took a complaint of skateboarders refusing to leave an East Main Street location; they were spoken with by an officer and advised they are no longer allowed to skate board there, according to management. Three names taken.
