ROWE — Town meeting voters swiftly approved Rowe’s $3.6 million spending plan for the budget year that starts July 1, and they agreed to send a message to state officials, asking that the state work with WiredWest and come up with a viable “wired broadband” plan acceptable to the town by June 30.
The meeting took less than a hour Monday night.
The budget breakdown includes $361,297 for general government, $584,277 for roads and public works, $108,384 for Pelham Lake Park, and $641,895 for pensions and employee insurance.
Next year’s school assessments are $1.1 million for the Rowe Elementary School and secondary education costs and tuition for the Mohawk Trail Regional High School come to $539,934.
An additional $50,000 was approved for EMT training, school technology, Fire Department radios, and similar items would come out of the town’s stabilization funds. Another $315,000 was taken from the town’s capital stabilization account for painting town buildings, replacing the trash compactor, redoing the stone wall and front walk of the library, and replacing two air masks and tanks for firefighters.
