ROWE — Annual town meeting voters will act Monday on a $3.6 million spending plan for the budget year that begins in July, and to send a message to the state about broadband Internet.
The voters will act on a resolution calling for the state to “commit all the necessary resources to ensure the provision of wired broadband service to Rowe in its entirety,” to allocate the $50 million broadband money to the towns, and to “instruct the Massachusetts Broadband Institute to work cooperatively with the towns and their agencies, including WiredWest,” to produce a plan that is acceptable to the town by June 30.
The annual town meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Rowe Elementary School.
The proposed budget breakdown is as follows:
General government: $361, 297
Public works: $584,277
Health and sanitation: $129,724
Education: Rowe Elementary School, $1.1 million; Secondary education (Mohawk) $539,934
Library: $67,852
Peham Lake Park: $108,384
Gracy House: $6,500
Old Home Day: $10,500
Pension and insurance: $641,895.
An additional $50,000 in spending requests, for EMT training, school technology, Fire Department radios, and similar items would come out of the town’s stabilization funds. Another $315,000 would be taken from the town’s capital stabilization account for painting town buildings, replacing the trash compactor, redoing the stone wall and front walk of the library, and replacing two air masks and tanks for firefighters.
