This winter my husband and I have been watching the old TV show, “The West Wing” on DVD. We have learned a lot about how the government works and how the staff treats the president and the office. With respect. Martin Sheen makes a really good President and he relies on his senior staff for guidance and credible information. For instance … The president is summoned to the Situation Room when a young pilot’s helicopter is shot down and we must get him home quickly from the Middle East without shots fired. A coup in Haiti erupts and we must get Americans home without exchanging fire; India and Pakistan are at odds and the U.S. must quell tempers and help avoid a war. Yes, it’s TV but can you even imagine Drumpf (Trump correct sp) being able to handle these imaginary crises, let alone real ones? He would treat the White House and the office with disrespect and probably put a Slot Machine in the lobby. It would be a stretch to find someone who would take a bullet for him. POTUS is the most powerful person in the free world. Drumpf? Now that’s a scary thought! Don’t give him the opportunity. The GOP is running scared with a buffoon for a candidate. They should have prepared more carefully when they let a couple of good candidates get away. When you vote in the primary, pick someone who has experience and can handle a crisis with dignity and class, not have a temper tantrum if things don’t go his way. Paranoia and the presidency don’t mix. Don’t vote the Party, vote the best person for the job. Vote carefully.
