In regard to the debate on pumped storage, its not rocket science just very basic physics. You are going to use more power pumping water uphill than you will recapture on the way back down. These pumped storage plants (Northfield and Bear Swamp) were built to compliment the nuclear plants that are no longer operating. Couple pumped storage to intermittent renewable energy sources like conventional hydroelectric, wind or solar and then you have stored energy that doesn’t involve burning fossil fuels or storing nuclear waste.
