NORTHFIELD — Residents will see one candidate on the ballot to replace of Jed Proujansky on the Selectboard at the May 3 election.

Julia Blyth of Old Wendell Road is running unopposed for Proujansky’s three-year seat on the Selectboard following his decision to step down.

Blyth, who was originally from Sunbury, Ohio, has prior town government experience with the open space, stewardship and new community parks committees in Northfield, as well as on the board of directors for the Greater Northfield Watershed Association. She came to Northfield with her husband, Pelham native Charlie Eisenan, in order to be closer to hiking and to have their own farm.

One of Blyth’s motivations for running for Selectboard, she said, was to continue to oppose the now-halted Kinder Morgan pipeline. She said that she is also enthusiastic to work on public lands, get an occupant for the school campus and is excited for new zoning.

Besides the Selectboard opening, many of the seats are uncontested this year. However, there are two contested races — two seats on the Recreation Commission and two on the Board of Library Trustees.

The Recreation Commission’s seats are being sought by Matthew Sheridan of Highland Avenue, Theresa Quinn Tsipenyuk of North Lane, Robin Conley of Old Bernardston Road and Kristen Gonzalez of East St. All four are vying for two three-year terms, and all four are newcomers to the commission.

The Board of Library Trustees three-year terms are being contested by Margot W. Fleck of North Lane, Deborah A. Potee of Main Street and Robert D. Hall Jr. of Pentecost Road. Fleck and Potee are nominated for re-election, while Potee is challenging for one of the positions again.

The other uncontested races are:

Board of Assessors: Robert H. MacEwen Jr., three-year term.

Board of Health members: Flora Sadri-Azarbayejani of South Mountain Road and Philip Baker of Birnam Road, three-year terms.

Planning Board members: Tammy L. Pelletier of Warwick Road and Julie Robinson of Hidden Pond Road, five-year terms.
