WHATELY — While the town government continues adjusting to its new digs on Sandy Lane, articles on this year’s town meeting warrant involve money for its current location and Town Hall.
Article 23 on Tuesday’s town meeting warrant, asks voters for $84,000 from the Community Preservation Fund Budgeted Reserve to prepare bid-ready documents for a project to rehabilitate the historic town hall building on Chestnut Plain Road. The goal, according to Town Administrator Mark A. Pruhenski, is to have the building serve as a community center for social, recreational and cultural use.
Article 25 pertains to $115,000 for office renovations to the Whately Town Offices at 4 Sandy Lane. The town purchased the building from the Massachusetts Library System for $810,000 in October 2015.
Pruhenski said these renovations will include modular office systems.
Voters adopted three housekeeping articles at a special town meeting in March. Money was approved for 68 meeting room chairs, one or two tables, some furnishings, roof repairs, and upgrades to the building’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning software. Pruhenski said Whately still leases space back to the regional library system, which will take the current furniture with it after securing a new home.
Articles 23 and 25 require a majority vote for adoption.
