4:58 p.m. — Report of possible breaking and entering on Avenue A where the caller says she checked her grandmother’s apartment, and it appears someone entered the apartment and belongings were rifled through, but unknown if anything is missing; officer to investigate.
6:48 p.m. — Caller from Fourth Street reports she heard loud voices outside her building, and looked out front to see two white males, possibly wearing sweatshirts and jeans, fighting; she stated she saw one male pick up a brick and go around the corner of the building, but he came back around, and that’s when the two were physically fighting; officer advised the area was checked and no one was located, but the officer did see the brick.
7:19 p.m. — Caller from Central Street reports a message left on his home phone and the male voice can be heard stating, “crack head losers …,” among other comments, and it make reference to a money issue; the caller doesn’t believe this call was meant for him, and would like an officer to make contact; officer spoke with the reporting person and he was advised of options and to call back if the calls continue.
10:26 p.m. — General disturbance reported on Fourth Street where the caller says she can hear someone yelling and screaming and what sounds like someone banging on a door for the past half hour; and advised she could hear someone yelling, “call the cops,” and said it was coming from the house next door; officer located the source of the disturbance, and investigation led to arrest of Andrew P. Helms, 28, of Phillips Street, Greenfield, on a warrant; the same person was also arrested on a separate docket for possession of a Class E drug.
12:25 p.m. — Report of a two-car accident in front of the Sunoco Gas Station on Daniel Shays Highway, but no injuries reported, officer responded and took the report.
1:30 p.m. — Officer investigating inappropriate pictures that were located on a phone; listed under sex offense, report to follow.
8 p.m. — Report of a chimney fire on Wheeler Avenue; Fire Department handling.
2:33 a.m. — Malicious destruction of property reported at Greenfield Country Estates on Adams Road where the reporting person states someone defecated on his front step to his house; officer to investigate, and found some dog waste was left on his door, and the reporting person believes it might be a neighbor.
10:39 a.m. — Report of possible intoxicated parent at the middle school on Federal Street; on officer’s arrival it was found that the male wasn’t intoxicated, but a possible medication reaction; the staff had seen him fall on the school steps a couple of times; the subject refused medical assistance, and the car was parked and keys left with school staff; they will turn them over to the owner of the vehicle at a later time; the male was transported to Water Street.
11:54 a.m. — Post office advising of a suspicious note on the door at a Silver Street location; officers responded, and notes were found to be placed on the inside of the residence, by the owner, who was believing that a person was coming on her property and doing things to her property, and wanted to scare the person.
1:34 p.m. — Caller from Big Y Foods reports a threat made in a dispute about a parking spot; officers sent, and spoke with the reporting person.
2:14 p.m. — Suspicious activity reported at Arch Place where investigation leads to a summons being issued for a 39-year-old male from Whately for possession of a Class A drug.
3:53 p.m. — Caller from Aubuchon Hardware on Federal Street requests an officer to look at footage of a shoplifting incident at the store; officer en route.
7:03 p.m. — Caller from Solar Way reports a telephone scam; the reporting person says she got a call from a person passing themselves off as a grant lender, and she was aware that the person was not legit; she never provided any personal information as far as her identity goes, and she stated that the person also requested her to make a transaction through Western Union; she advises she never made any transmission, because she caught onto the fact that it was a scam.
3:26 p.m. — Hazard reported on Millers Falls Road at Industrial Boulevard were the caller says a large boulder that was part of the Hallmark Institute landscaping and was possibly struck by a tractor-trailer, has been pushed into the roadway; the DPW was notified and is en route.
4:11 p.m. — Fire alarm activation from an Avenue A location; Fire Department reports it was burnt food in the second floor apartment.
4:38 p.m. — Caller from Montague Street advised her two beagles have taken off again from home, “Bella” and “Justice,” both females, but no collar or tags; copy of this call will be left for the ACO, and patrol units advised; the reporting person then called back to say “Bella” has been located, but “Justice” is still missing.
7:05 p.m. — Caller from Prospect Street reports that within the last three days his unlocked white Nissan Altima was entered and a camera was taken; a Cannon 5D Mark III with a value of $3,000; the caller advised the camera is a rental from Hallmark Institute, and the caller is in contact with the school to get the paperwork on the camera, and he says there is insurance on the camera.
10:05 a.m. — Traffic stop on East River Street for speeding; the operator was unlicensed; arrested was Joshua A. Navarro, 20, of East River Street, charged with speeding, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
5:04 p.m. — Control reports Orange Fire Department is responding to a store on East Main Street, as the store is being evacuated for an unknown reason; officer found the lights had gone out for a couple of minutes, and there was a smell of smoke in the building; the Fire Department arrived and handled the situation.
8:48 p.m. — Unwanted person reported on West Main Street where the caller wanted a person removed; the reporting person told Control that the person took something and she is now freaking out and thinks she has something on her; on officer’s arrival she had settled down; ambulance responded, but she signed a refusal.
9:44 a.m. — Accident reported on Turners Falls Road, but no injuries; officer sent, two vehicles involved, and report issued.
9:46 a.m. — Larceny reported by a caller who would like to speak with an officer regarding an item stolen; an 18-karat gold ring (two round diamond alternating with two rectangular baguettes, diamond color) around the face of the ring, eight total diamonds and six total baguettes; the ring has been missing since last Wednesday; officer investigating.
8:14 a.m. — Request for an officer to view footage for a past shoplifting at Food City on Avenue A.
1:55 a.m. — Neighborhood disturbance reported on West Main Street regarding a verbal altercation between a male and female; found to be an argument between two known people and they were separated for the evening.
4:58 p.m. — Suspicious activity reported on Stone Valley Road from where Control got a call about people from a black Durango, walking around the house, trying to get in; officers responded, and found that the person explained how his family is moving in, and the key isn’t working; the owner arrived and confirmed the problem.
6:50 p.m. — Person approached an officer regarding an intoxicated male on East River Street; officer made contact with the subject’s daughter, who came and picked the male up.
6:55 p.m. — Control reports unwanted people on a Russ Street property, and the caller was assaulted; the involved people had left when officer arrived; a vehicle description was given; the caller reports his ex-girlfriend and her friend were involved; the reporting person named the person who tried to hit him; they were advised to call police again if they come back.
8:24 p.m. — Control got a call from West Main Street reporting a male is out of control there, breaking his dishes; on arrival of police, the male requested to be transported to the hospital for an evaluation; Fire Department ambulance transported the person to Athol Hospital.
4:41 a.m. — Fire in a structure on Hope Street; Fire Department notified, officer sent, and the officer on scene reports the fire is out; fire command reports the fire that was on the stove and extended to cabinets; units ventilating.
12:04 p.m. — Disturbance on Union Street where the situation was discussed with all involved, as the caller had reported her upstairs neighbor knocked on her door to tell her to stop playing music on her laptop so loud; when she advised him that she doesn’t have the volume up, or attached to any speakers, he threatened to have her raped and beaten if she didn’t turn it down; found that the male has a 209A against him by the apartment holder and this is a possible violation.
2:52 p.m. — Caller states her boyfriend told her to call 911 because he was told by an elderly female that she was punched in the face by a male, and that by the time she gets home, she’s going to be dead; officers assisted and found it not as reported, no one was assaulted.
3:45 p.m. — Unwanted person reported at Main Street Bar and Grill where the caller says the female is causing a disturbance; officers sent, and the female was moved along.
5:17 p.m. — Disturbance on Hope Street where the caller reports a known female just walked into the reporting person’s home, and the homeowner pushed the female out of the door, and the female began punching windows and doors; she was then on the railroad tracks; and is believed to be headed to Main Street or possibly crossing over the tracks to Washington Street; Pan Am Railroad was contacted to hold traffic as a person was believed to be on the tracks; three trains were stopped due to that possibility; officers then found the female at Deerfield and Washington streets; Pan Am was advised to continue traffic; the female said she was just knocking on the front door of the Hope Street residence; she went to see a friend who isn’t home, she was advised to heard toward home for the evening.
11:40 p.m. — Disturbance on Wells Street where the reporting person states her neighbors are yelling and slamming doors; officers investigated and peace was restored.
11:34 a.m. — A CO2 alarm was sounding on Wendell Road, but no one reported feeling ill at the residence; the reporting person was advised, if safe to do so, to have the occupants vacate the residence to await the Fire Department; Turners Falls Fire Department was advised; they found it to be a defective detector.
2:08 p.m. — Accident at Fourth Street and Avenue A, but no injuries reported, one vehicle leaking antifreeze; officers and Fire Department sent; tow truck called.
1:10 p.m. — Accident with property damage reported on Athol Road from where the reporting person sought an officer, and he stated to an officer he had been having problems with a family friend; today, while the reporting person was driving, the family friend almost ran the reporting person off the road, and in doing so, broke the reporting person’s driver’s side mirror; the reporting person states he just wants a new mirror; the information was relayed to the family friend, and he was advised of the pending charges if he fails to comply.
6:10 p.m. — Athol Police requesting assistance with a disturbance on Park Street in their town, as all their units are tied up with a fire; they took a report of a female throwing items around the apartment; officers from Orange spoke with the two people involved, and they explained they were roommates, and it was verbal; the male left for the night, and the female was advised of options.
12:15 a.m. — Disturbance reported on Wells Street where the reporting person states her upstairs neighbor is fighting and throwing things; the reporting person states this is an ongoing issue; and the reporting person then states she just heard something break; she said the involved person usually has her boyfriend there and they and usually intoxicated; officer reports the two involved people ran off, but unable to locate; the female allegedly broke into the upstairs apartment, yanked a male from his couch, smashed his phone and then fled the apartment; no injuries.
3:58 a.m. — Report that a blue 2004 Honda Civic has been repossessed on Deerfield Street.
7:43 a.m. — Larceny reported from Robbins Road here the caller says two kayaks were stolen and a lawnmower turned over; the kayaks were Creek Boat Magnum, red, and Jackson Super Star Playboat, red/yellow, green and blue; the riding lawnmower and mailbox were damaged; under investigation.
8:36 a.m. — Accident reported at the Academy of Early Learning at Place Terrace where a vehicle backed into a stopped school bus; found to be minor damage to both vehicle, report issued and information exchanged.
9:32 a.m. — Report of Illegal dumping at Food City where the caller says plastic bottles, magazines, etc., were dumped into a food/compost dumpster; the vehicle’s plate was seen on a surveillance camera, officer advised; following up.
1:55 p.m. — Call came into Athol Police about loose cows in the area of Warwick State Forest; the reporting person can see a sign for Flagg Road; Warwick dispatched, and found the animals went into some woods; they belong at a Tully Road location.
2 p.m. — Animal complaint from Packard Pond area where the caller reports something killed a mother fox, and now there are orphan babies; the caller was given the phone number for the Environmental Police.
2:55 p.m. — Report of a minor accident by the Little League Park, officer sent, and found a two-car accident, but no injuries reported; officer took the report, and information was exchanged between the operators.
10:25 p.m. — Caller from West Main Street reports a known person is out of control and is breaking items in the apartment; on officer’s arrival, and following some investigation, the male was transported to the Athol Hospital for an evaluation.
10:23 a.m. — Caller from Pond Street would like a call back in regards to a identity theft, as she reports she received a letter from the IRS stating that someone had filed a tax return using her Social Security Number, and her husband’s; she was advised by the IRS to make a report with her local police; report taken.
10:42 a.m. — Accident at Colrain and Nash’s Mill roads, but no injuries reported; OnStar reports fluids leaking; officers and fire department sent, Medcare was requested; no tows needed; report taken.
10:45 a.m. — Larceny reported at the police station where the walk-in stated her medication was stolen when she left it in her mother’s car while she was at her mother’s apartment in Athol; she was advised to contact Athol Police and gave her the number.
2:18 p.m. — Accident at Federal and Riddell streets, but no injuries reported, though the reporting person thinks there may be fluids leaking; Medcare started, and on scene, minimal damage to both vehicles; services rendered.
2:59 p.m. — Accident reported on Deerfield Street, but no injuries reported, situation investigated.
6:20 p.m. — Breaking and entering attempt reported on Heather Court where the reporting person states that when she got home today, she noticed that someone had tried to break her lock, and noticed damaged to it; officers sent, and spoke with the woman; report issued.
8:19 p.m. — Fire alarm activation from the Beacon House for Men on Beacon Street; Fire Department was notified and engines sent; building was evacuated, and it is now being investigated; alarm system was reset, and units cleared and people were returning.
4:11 p.m. — Call came from Shelburne Control regarding a two-car accident on North Leverett Road, but no injuries reported; officer found one vehicle was a Comcast vehicle; second vehicle is a Volkswagen Golf, both vehicles were insured; report taken.
7:55 p.m. — Caller from Randall Road reports one of their drivers was in this area and a large bear crossed in front of them and went into the wooded area; officer to check.
8:03 p.m. — Caller from Power Street, near the old Railroad Salvage building, where the reporting person says that about 3:30 p.m., he parked in the parking lot there to use the bike path; when he arrived back at about 4:20, he discovered two of his tires were slashed; officer located the vehicle on H Street; officer investigating and found the vehicle off the road, and the reporting person will attempt to get it tonight or tomorrow morning; he has a ride for the meantime; still under investigation.
3:23 a.m. — Disturbance reported on Chapman Street where the caller states her neighbors are screaming, and there is a lot of shuffling around; officers found it to be a verbal dispute regarding finances, but no physical assault reported by either person, they were advised of 209a rights, and advised to keep it down.
3:41 a.m. — Officers on Chapman Street to serve a warrant; done without incident; arrested was Sherrie Smith, 29, of Chapman Street, Greenfield, on the warrant.
8:44 a.m. — Report from Main Street of malicious damage to a motor vehicle, where the caller reports nails in her tires; officer found this is the third time tires have been damaged by the same suspect; surveillance cameras being reviewed; under investigation.
11:28 a.m. — Suspicious activity reported on Deerfield Street where the caller reports a possible drug transaction at this location; a male walked up to a window of a house there, and a hand-to-hand transaction was made; officers found the person was gone on arrival.
11:35 a.m. — Report that a motor vehicle a black, 2014, Ford Expedition, has been repossessed at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center, medical office building lot on Sanderson Street.
6:35 a.m. — Caller from area of the Gill-Montague Bridge reporting the bridge is very icy; call was passed to the Massachusetts Highway Department.
8:20 a.m. — Report of vandalism at the Swift River Hydro Electric location on Canal Street where the reporting person says the vandalism happened overnight, as rocks were thrown through the windows; officer investigating and found it related to an earlier call.
8:55 a.m. — Report from Fifth Street that a squirrel is in the common hallway of her building; the ACO was advised; he then arrived, and reports the squirrel has been removed from the building.
