GREENFIELD — A motorcycle driver is in stable condition after a collision in Greenfield on Sunday morning.
The motorcycle operator, 21-year-old Keegan Herringshaw of South Deerfield, collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Bernardston Road and Wildwood Avenue in Greenfield, according to Greenfield Police Sgt. Dan McCarthy.
The pickup truck driver, 62-year-old Brian Tietze of Vernon, Vt., was making a left turn on to Wildwood Avenue from the southbound lane of Bernardston Road when the Yamaha motorcycle hit the side of the GMC truck.
Police arrived on the scene shortly after a call came in at 10:29 a.m.
Medical personnel assessed the driver’s condition and a LifeFlight helicopter transported him to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for further medical evaluation.
When police arrived, Herringshaw was still conscious.
As of late Sunday afternoon, he was in stable condition, according to Michelle Holmgren, a spokeswoman from the hospital.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident, but authorities believe that the motorcycle driver’s speed was a factor in the crash, McCarthy said.
