The thought of Donald Trump becoming president of the United States literally makes me sick to my stomach. It is beyond my comprehension how anyone can think that this man — whom I consider to be crude, an egotist, a bigot, a sexist, an isolationist and a rabble rouser — should be our president.
Trump is as much of a politician as the rest of them. I have heard too many “I don’t know” or “I don’t remember” answers to questions that he doesn’t want to answer. He has behaved like a child throughout this whole campaign.
At the beginning of his campaign, he said many times how he loved/liked various opponents. But then he turns on them like a snake. Can you imagine what he would say if he “didn’t like them?”
Although not named by the Pope Francis, I agree with the pope that anyone who wants to build a wall to keep poor, suffering neighbors out is not a Christian. Trump says he is a Christian but his behavior is far from Christian. The two major commandments are to “love the Lord your God with your whole heart, your whole mind, and your whole soul” and the second is like unto it, “love your neighbor as yourself.” Do any of his campaign’s words or planned actions sound to anyone as “Christian?” Does he “love his neighbor as himself?” I don’t think so!
He is against American companies who manufacture overseas. I wonder how many of the companies that pay Trump for using his name on their products actually manufacture their products here in the U.S. If, God forbid, he is elected and his supposed plans were go into effect, how much money would he lose from those companies? He might change his tune.
We already know what many of our allies think of Donald Trump as president. Alienating them will “make America great again”; I don’t think so!
A good part of the blame for his popularity among certain citizens, if not all of it, can go to Congress, who is more concerned with fighting with the other party than doing what is best for the country. The citizens are sick of it and too many think Trump is the solution to that problem. He keeps saying he will do this, that or the other thing but I have yet to hear a concrete plan on how he is going to do it. Does he not know that he needs Congress to approve action on the crazy ideas he babbles on about? Trump is so egotistical that he says he doesn’t need advisers as he has a “pretty good brain” or some such statement. Maybe he won’t need a vice president, either.
I wish political parties would be eliminated; campaigning limited to six months; and a cap placed on the amount of money spent on campaigns. To those supporters of Trump: really folks, do you think you are watching a reality show like “The Apprentice”? Is Trump going to fire everyone whom he doesn’t like or doesn’t agree with him? This is the future of our country that is at stake! In my opinion, the U.S. will go to “hell in a hand basket” if he is elected.
I don’t like Hillary either, whom I feel is not truthful. As I once told one of our senators, the term “honest politician” is an oxymoron. In good conscience, I cannot vote for Trump. I pray that someone else comes forward who can represent this country the way it should be.
