Greenfield, March 23

2:31 p.m. — Hit-and-run accident reported at the Big Y lot on the Mohawk Trail, near Maurice’s; officer located the vehicle and found a small scratch on the left rear panel; services rendered.

3:20 p.m. — Traffic stop on Colrain Street at Kimball Drive; a 24-year-old resident of Riverside Drive is being summoned for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, illegally attaching plates, miscellaneous motor vehicle equipment violation, uninsured motor vehicle, and unregistered motor vehicle; the vehicle was towed.

3:33 p.m. — Disturbance on Davis Street where the reporting person says a male is screaming from across the street; the involved person stated he was cleaning and singing along with music; he was advised to keep the noise down.

4:06 p.m. — Accident reported on High Street, two vehicles involved, but with no injuries; a citation and a warning were issued.

6:38 p.m. — Disturbance on Davis Street where the caller reports a male yelling and screaming; found the involved male singing and spring cleaning, and he was advised of the complaint.

6:51 p.m. — Caller states she has been receiving phone calls from the IRS; they were giving her an estimated time of arrival of police, a badge number of the cop, and the cop’s names; she talked with her mother and she told her to report it to us; the calls were fraudulent, possibly based out of India or Pakistan; she was advised not to give any information to any such caller and to not answer the phone for unknown number.

7:03 p.m. — Caller from Stage Road in South Deerfield states his mother has been receiving phone calls from a western Mass woman’s regional corrections office; when he called the number back, it sounded like a scam; officer advised it looks to be a phone account scam, based off of the GTL inmate telephone service, out of New Jersey; the caller was advised not to answer the calls or respond to them.

9:32 p.m. — Traffic stop on Federal Street near Goodies Restaurant; officer requested a tow truck, and a 34-year-old Chapman Street resident will be summoned to court on charges of operating with license revoked, and uninsured motor vehicle; the vehicle was towed.

10:42 p.m. — Disabled vehicle at Deerfield and Cheapside streets where it was found that the vehicle had run out of gas; a passer by stopped to assist and provided gas; the hazard was removed.

Montague, March 23

1:26 p.m. — Officer out with a person at Cumberland Farms on Montague City Road for illegally dumping trash; officer spoke to the person involved and the trash was removed, she was given a verbal warning.

3:37 p.m. — Shelburne Control requests a K-9 unit for a track in Shutesbury as a child ran into the woods from an elementary school after school program; officer and Artie will be en route; he was then canceled, as the child was located.

4:46 p.m. — Reporting person from Greenfield Road advising she was outside with her grandchildren when she heard what sounded like a young child, five or six year old boy, yelling, “mommy, mommy,” in the distance; she didn’t see any children or other people around, and isn’t familiar with any other children in the area; she was concerned due to her property is abutting the river; officers attempting to locate something eventually coordinated with Deerfield Police to have them check a property on that side of the river; an officer from Montague was then able to yell to a woman outside one of the houses across the river, and she advised of her two daughters, who are inside now, were outside playing about 30 minutes ago; Deerfield Police then checked with the residents on their side, and all children were accounted for, but had been playing earlier; officers cleared.

7:23 p.m. — Officer off at the skate park at Unity Park on first Street; services rendered.

Greenfield, March 24

12:01 a.m. — Twelve traffic stops made throughout the night up to 9:24 a.m. for a burglar alarm on Union Street, where officers found the building secure. Mostly citations and written warnings issued on the traffic stops, and a couple of times the subjects in parked vehicles were just moved along.

9:51 a.m. — Shoplifting reported at Dollar General on Federal Street, officer to investigate, and speaking with possible suspect; the accusation was explained to her, and she allowed a consent search of her pockets; nothing found; the manager was unable to locate any missing items; spoke with the female, and the situation was unfounded.

10:33 a.m. — Officers on High Street, then at Sanderson Street, and then on School Street to serve a warrant; the man ran from officers, and he was chased to Franklin Street, to School Street, and then arrested was Daniel Richard Turner, 56, of High Street, Greenfield, on the warrant.

2 p.m. — Despondent person reported on Leyden Road; a Section 12 was requested and the involved person was being transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, in the ambulance; officers assisting.

2:37 p.m. — Disturbance reported at McDonald’s on the Mohawk Trail where the caller says occupants of a green pickup truck are possibly having sex; the vehicle is across from the drive-up window; officers sent, but determined the report was unfounded.

2:52 p.m. — Accident on the Route 91 northbound ramp at the rotary, two vehicles involved; officer assisted with exchange of information, minor damage.

3:53 p.m. — Accident on Bernardston Road officers and fire department sent, officer requests Medcare; fire engine also on the scene, and fire command reports people are still in the vehicles; one person transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center; both vehicles towed; report taken.

4:23 p.m. — Disturbance at Oak Courts where the caller reports a male has a knife and is making threats; officers on scene, and the reporting person says a boy just threatened three other children with a knife, at the playground, and the suspect is inside one of the homes; the subject is a male juvenile, and the caller says he brandished a knife, and said, “I’m going to kill you with this knife,” she was informed of the incident by her son; the suspect is to be charged with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon; officers assisted in gathering witnesses and victim’s statements.

5:41 p.m. — Accident reported on Main Street by the YMCA, but no injuries reported, two vehicles, information was exchanged. Report issued.

5:45 p.m. — Caller from Shaw’s Mart on Main Street on a 911 call requests police check on the welfare of a female who is, “falling down on the ground,” and seems messed up; officers sent; gone on arrival.

6:27 p.m. — Caller from the fire department reports a male wearing all black screaming and throwing his arms around, and looks very upset; officers sent, gone on arrival of police.

11:56 p.m. — Caller from CVS requests police check the welfare of a female at their location on Federal Street; the female was unwanted there, and she gathered belongings, and voluntarily moved along.

Montague, March 24

10:23 a.m. — Larceny reported from the Montague village Store on Main Street with a report of a past theft of a roll of $20 lottery tickets from the reporting person’s store; he has already reported the theft to the lottery commission and learned that some of the winning tickets have already been redeemed; officer spoke with a man form the state Lottery Commission and they are expected to call the station for a follow up.

11:11 a.m. — Report of a fire alarm sounding from the caller’s location on Montague City Road; the reporting person can see a light flashing on the exterior of the building, but toward the end of the call the reporting person advised the alarm stopped sounding; Turners Falls Fire Department, notified.

2:01 p.m. — Activation of a burglar alarm, and showing “phone line cut,” officer responded at Basically Bicycles on Third Street and found no problems.

6:28 p.m. — Caller from J Street report he had been out for a walk, and believes he found a hypodermic needle across the parking lot; he didn’t touch it and requests an officer to retrieve it; he will be home to show an officer where the item is located; officer in the area, services rendered.

Greenfield, March 25

12:33 a.m. — Traffic stop on Wildwood Avenue, in area of Denny’s; officer transporting a male to the station; arrested was Christopher S. Clayton, 25, of South Street, Athol, charged with operating a motor vehicle after his or her license or right to operate a motor vehicle had been revoked by reason of his or her having been found to be an habitual traffic offender, attaching plates to a motor vehicle, unregistered motor vehicle, speeding, uninsured motor vehicle, possession of a Class A drug, and on a warrant.

1:34 a.m. — Disturbance on Chapman Street where the reporting person says a male and female are yelling and screaming at this location, and are reported to be outside on the sidewalk; the reporting person believes the male is wearing a blue hoodie; officer on scene found three people involved; two males and one female; known male had a large laceration to the eye brow; all people stated that he fell due to intoxication and they are bringing him home to clean up; he refused medical treatment, and all were moved along.

7:35 a.m. — Shoplifting reported at the newly renovated Sunoco Station on Federal Street where an officer found the person had taken a six-pack of Mike’s Hard Black Cherry Lemonade; found to be a vehicle out of Kentucky; the vehicle was reported as stolen; BOLO issued, and officers checked Greenfield Gardens off of Elm Street, Oak Courts, and Leyden Woods; state police then located the vehicle on Route 91, by Exit 15, and both people were arrested; being processed by state police.

8:32 a.m. — Caller reports a motor vehicle on fire at High and Maple streets, officers and fire department sent; services rendered.

9:16 a.m. — Subject walked into the police station intoxicated, but looking for a detective; he was placed in protective custody, and taken to the house of correction.

Montague, March 25

12:16 a.m. — Caller from the Moltenbrey property on Avenue A, complaining of noise coming from the downtown area; found to be the DPW using leaf blowers to clean the sidewalks; officer advised of the complaint.

12:18 a.m. — Same complaint as in previous call but this one was on Third Street; officer advised again.

5:03 a.m. — Caller from Fourth Street reports her water and that of her neighbor in the building is discolored coming from the tap; a call was placed to the on-call water department, with the address, and on the cell phone, an employee stated he would look into it.

1:58 p.m. — Caller requests officer assistance on Route 2 eastbound in Gill. She said her ex-boyfriend was speeding and cut her off. He believes he was trying to run her off the road. She said that she was in fear for her safety. Dispatcher told the caller to pull off the road to wait for an officer. The caller pulled off the road into an antique shop along Route 2 in Erving, just around the corner from the post office.

Orange, March 25

7:37 a.m. — Accident with injuries; Shelburne Control reported it as a two car crash, but no further details; Orange Fire Department and EMS was sent along with an officer; and the ambulance took one person to Athol Memorial Hospital.

9:30 a.m. — The district court here requests that officers serve a Section 35, and officers located the female at North Main Street; she was highly intoxicated; she was transported, and released to the Orange District Court.

2:20 p.m. — Caller from South Main Street reporting an unwanted person on the property, but the person was gone on arrival of officers; he was seen walking on Hayden Street near Second Street; the reporting person was advised.

4:10 p.m. — Accident reported on East Main Street where an employee of a business there states a truck pulled in, and damaged the overhead at the gas pumps; information was exchanged, and the damage appears to be under $1,000.

6:30 p.m. — Vehicle stopped on Pleasant Street for failure to stop for a red light, and hard or objectionable noise of squealing tires; investigation leads to arrest of Scott R. Liberty, 47, of West Myrtle Road Orange, charged with operating under the influence of liquor, failure to stop for a red light and the harsh/objectionable noise of squealing tires.

8 p.m. — Harassment reported on East River Street where the reporting person says an unknown male is constantly calling her; officer called the number and left a message advising the person to cease calling her number.

Orange, March 26

12:28 a.m. — General disturbance reported on South Shore Drive from where Shelburne Control got a call of a male and female disturbance between two known people; the female was found walking down the street; officer spoke with the male and found that both he and her have been drinking tonight; she didn’t want to go to bed for the night, and the two of them were arguing; the female was transported to her grandparents for the night.

8:31 a.m. — Control got a call from Daniel Shays Highway from a person who would like to speak with an officer about her neighbor’s chickens that keep defecating in his yard. the officer discussed this with the reporting person, and he was advised to contact the ACO (animal control officer).

9:30 a.m. — Caller told Control of a fisher cat that was struck by a motor vehicle and is injured; units responded and found the animal needing to be euthanized.

12:15 p.m. — Walk-in to the station requesting to speak with an officer about a larceny that occurred this morning at a business on East Main Street; the incident is under investigation.

12:55 p.m. — Orange Fire Department repots a two vehicle accident at South Main and Water streets; both units responded, those in one vehicle appeared to need some attention; while the other two involved claimed to be uninjured; report taken, and a citation was issued to one operator for failing to use care in slowing/stopping; report issued.

1:45 p.m. — While an officer was on foot patrol, he was flagged down by an individual that wanted to report a past breaking and entering, to his shed located at his residence on East Road; report taken.

6:35 p.m. — Report of an assault came from a walk-in who says he was assaulted at an East River Street location, and the reporting person spoke with some friends and it sounds like a named person is the person who assaulted him; officer spoke with the reporting person regarding options, and he want to think things over first. He later came back to the station and requested this incident be logged, and he will speak with management on Monday.

7:14 p.m. — A reporting person says her 19-year-old son is intoxicated and is punching out windows at the residence on Bacon Street; on officer’s arrival the situation was discussed and the son left with his older sister for the night.

Greenfield, March 27

1:39 a.m. — An officer checked on a group outside of Taylor’s Tavern. Female said that people inside a car attempted to convince her to go home with them. Reports she knows a person in the car from high school, but does not know the others. The people in the vehicle left upon the officers arrival. Female will be heading home with other friends.

6:06 a.m. — A caller stated that a person just left a Pierce Street residence and turned left on Federal Street headed toward McDonald’s in a gold Toyota sedan. The driver was wearing only underwear and socks. Caller stated that the driver’s was under the influence of alcohol. Police tracked down the vehicle and transported the individual to Baystate Franklin Medical Center. The driver stated that he was on his way to his brother’s house in Easthampton. The vehicle was towed.

9:53 p.m. — Despondent person reported at the Key Starr Program on Park Street; officers sent and Medcare to stage short; Medcare was then advised it was safe to approach, and services rendered.

10:33 p.m. — Disturbance at Main and Wells streets, where the caller said two cars possibly hit each other then the drivers got out of the car and started fist fighting then they took off down Wells Street; reporting person said it was a silver car and a black car; officers at Wells and Place Terrace, with both vehicles involved, and under investigation.

11:01 p.m. — Unwanted person reported at Lilac Court where the reporting person doesn’t want the male there due to his criminal history; she states he isn’t being violent or argumentative at this time; officers sent, and one officer then reported the male has agreed to leave for the night.

Montague March 27

11:33 a.m. — Vandalism reported on L Street where the caller says two of her vehicles tires were slashed overnight; the reporting person suspects an ex-girlfriend of having done this, due to interaction with her recently; officer spoke with the reporting person, and report taken.

1:39 p.m. — Fire alarm sounding from Our Lady of Peace Church on Seventh Street and showing the, “fire panel in trouble,” and Turners Falls Fire Department was notified.

3:02 p.m. — Illegal dumping reported at Carroll’s Market on East Main Street where the caller say someone from Bridge Street has thrown garbage bags into his dumpster, and he doesn’t want that to happen, as he needs the space for his business; officer went and spoke to the reporting person, and then the officer found a name and address on mail in a bag in the dumpster; the officer then spoke with the male, who stated it was likely that his girlfriends son who placed the trash in the dumpster; he was advised.

4:38 p.m. — General disturbance reported on Ripley Road at North Leverett Road where the reporting person says that for about the past ten minutes she has heard what sounds to her like gun shots; she isn’t familiar with any shooting ranges in the area or why someone might be out shooting on a Sunday; officer responded, but found nothing in the area, but did make contact with other residents who said they heard the same (shooting sounds); officer checked North Leverett Road, Ripley Road, and Route 63, but nothing heard, and no hunters seen.

5:41 p.m. — Reporting person on 911 wireless call requests officers immediately for a fight near the brick building by the baseball fields across from the F.L., Roberts station on Third Street; the reporting person states knives were involved; officers responded, and the reporting person provided names of two primarily involved people, and said both were bleeding, but unknown what kind of injuries; one male was bleeding from the head; Turners Falls Fire Department, contacted and requested to stage short due to unknown injuries; the reporting person state a male, the reporting person’s ex, got into the car while she was driving; officer advised they have one person in custody; Erving and Gill officers also on the scene; Medcare contacted; one person being transported by Medcare; officer is later back to the station with the treated male; arrested was Gregory Steven Fisher, 22, of Bayberry Court, Greenfield, charged with assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and disorderly conduct.

8:53 p.m. — Caller from Turners Falls Road reports a bear on his back deck, but during the call he says the bear has now left, and believes it to have been a cub; the reporting person stated his wife has several bird feeders hanging off the desk, which has probably attracted the bear; the reporting person was advised this would be passed along, and call back if there were any other issue; the reporting person called back to advise he went out to take down the bird feeders and the bear was still outside, and wasn’t small, about 250 pounds, but has now left toward Hatchery Road; a copy of the call was left with the ACO.
