ORANGE — A local man faces a fourth drunken driving charge.
Scott R. Liberty, 47, of 84 West Myrtle St., Apt. 2, pleaded innocent at his arraignment Monday in Orange District Court to a charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol as a fourth offense, failure to stop for a red light and improper operation, a charge apparently stemming from squealing tires during acceleration.
Liberty was arrested Friday evening near his home.
According to the Orange police arrest report filed with Liberty’s court docket, Liberty drove through a red light, turning onto West River Street from South Main Street a little after 6:30 p.m. Liberty smelled of alcohol, admitted to having five drinks, and performed poorly in two of three sobriety tests before refusing a breath test, according to the report.
Judge David Ross ordered Liberty free on his own recognizance, subject to random alcohol screenings.
