Greenfield, March 21

5:13 a.m. — Pierce Street caller says he is outside and that a group of four or five people are trying to rob him and trying to go into his back pocket to take his wallet; he states he knows what they look like, but doesn’t know who they are, but they are from Athol; officer on scene and reporting person was found to be under the influence of alcohol, and a check of the apartment was all clear; the reporting person’s caretaker was on scene and states the male has been undergoing a lot of stress lately; the male was determined to be intoxicated.

5:46 a.m. — Despondent person on Pierce Street, and the reporting person says the people from the above call are back at his house, stealing from him again, and trying to take his stereo; officers responded, and still not as reported; the reporting person has issues, and has been drinking; while speaking with him in the living room, he stated somebody was behind the TV trying to steal it; given the TV was flush with the wall it was a physical impossibility; plus the officer checked.

6:38 a.m. — Shoplifting at CVS on Federal Street, where the reporting person states that over the last few mornings she has been suspecting an elderly male of taking things from the store; she states he just left the store after she saw him take a drink and several snacks, then only paid for a newspaper; officer to investigate.

7:54 a.m. — Larceny reported from Colrain Street where the caller says his wallet was stolen sometime overnight; officer called back and spoke with a known person, who stated he knows who stole his wallet and used a credit card at Taylor’s Tavern last night; area checked but unable to locate at this time; under investigation.

10:31 a.m. — Despondent person reported at Four Corners Discovery School on Ferrante Avenue; officers sent, and calmed the child down; a plan was established for the rest of the day, and the future; officer distributed police cards.

11:07 a.m. — Caller from Cleveland Street would like advise on how to prevent harassment from an ex-friend; she stated she ended her six-month relationship with the male who continues to show up at her home on and off over the past three weeks; the male located the spare key to her home in her garage, and she had the locks changes; she blocked the male’s phone number and the subject just obtained a new phone; she said she isn’t in fear of the male, but wants no further contact with him; the reporting person was advised how to obtain an harassment prevention order since she’s not in fear, and she will call the police if he returns to her home.

3:29 p.m. — Caller from Cumberland Farms on Federal Street says her husband’s wallet was stolen from the counter, and they have it on video; officers responded, and the crime took place around 10:36 a.m., and a female took the wallet left on the counter; employee knows the involved female only by first name and address; home phone is out of service; state police was requested through Shelburne Control to check a house in Colrain/Shelburne area; officer then spoke with the female who advised that she did pick up the wallet, and left it in the victim’s mailbox; officer called, and found the wallet was in the mailbox, but $242 is now allegedly missing; still under investigation.

3:31 p.m. — Officers on Federal Street to serve a warrant; arrested was Robert R. Arsenault, 52, of Federal Street, Greenfield, on two warrants.

3:32 p.m. — Caller says there are three or four people fighting by the railroad tracks on Mill Street; officers responded, and peace was restored.

5:03 p.m. — Suspicious activity reported on High Street where the caller says she is having ongoing issues with a neighbor, and this time the neighbor just walked into her apartment, and started complaining about something; she wasn’t let in, but just walked in; officer responded, and found the neighbor walked into the apartment without permission, to complain about odors; officer spoke with all involved and advised them; the reporting person wanted this documented.

6:48 p.m. — Caller states he was on the phone with his girlfriend, and she was making some vague suicidal statements; he hasn’t been able to get a hold of her in over ten minutes; when the reporting person saw her earlier, he noticed she was drinking alcohol; officer made contact with the female, but no signs or suicidal statements made; the female checked out OK, and all appears to be in order at the apartment; the female reports she and the reporting person broke up, but she isn’t despondent; she was with a friend, whom we spoke to.

10:52 p.m. — Disturbance on West Street reported by an anonymous caller who states that he was walking by a residence there, and heard people yelling and what sounded like punches; he then saw two people run out of the house and get into two different cars and drive off quickly; he could still hear yelling from inside the house, after the cars left; officers responded and spoke with the residents there but no one reported hearing or seeing any sort of disturbance, and all appeared quiet on arrival; neighbors state nothing was heard.

Montague, March 21

10:06 a.m. — Vandalism reported at a Fifth Street location where the caller says the driver’s side tires on her Sabaru Outback have been slashed; report taken.

11:26 a.m. — Caller from Marshall Street reports her white Nissan Altima was broken into overnight and multiple items, including a wallet and bag are missing. She was advised to contact her bank and credit card companies; officer investigating.

6:35 p.m. — Report of an accident by the Great Falls Harvest on Third Street; where the reporting person says it is a two car accident near there but no smoke or fluids, no injuries or airbag deployment; both vehicles were able to pull off to the side of the road; officer was advised and when on scene he requested Turners Falls Fire Department, as the people in one vehicle involved are now complaining of neck injuries; the fire department was contacted as was Medcare, and then Medcare transported two females to Baystate Franklin Medical Center.

Orange, March 21

10:35 a.m. — Traffic stop on Daniel Shays Highway for a failure to clear snow from the vehicle, and no inspection sticker results; the operator was given a verbal warning for the violations.

11:35 a.m. — Caller from Daniel Shays Highway reports he got a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS; he hung up on them.

1:39 p.m. — Officer on patrol located a juvenile at South Main Street and Brickyard Road, who is wanted by Athol Police on a warrant; the youth was detained until arrival of an Athol officer, who took custody.

2:40 p.m. — Control advised of a reporting person who states there are two people on the side of West Orange Road by the Route 2 overpass trying to put out a small brush fire; officer responded but nothing was found.

3:20 p.m. — General disturbance on East River Street where the call says there is a verbal altercation between a male and female, and the reporting person advised someone is throwing items; officer made contact and found it to be verbal only, and they were separated for the evening.

4:30 p.m. — Disturbance between a male and female on North Main Street at a residence there; the male requested the female be removed; officer made contact with the mother, who was advised, and the two involved were told to separate for the evening.

7 p.m. — A caller from Summit Street advised there is a fridge with its doors still attached on a front lawn there, and that they are concerned that a child may access it; officer assisted the resident in taking the door off of the fridge.

8:05 p.m. — Motor vehicle stop at South Main and Congress streets for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle; the operator was placed in custody and the booking inventory located a Class B drug; arrested was Joanie Shepard, 24, of East Howe Street, Orange, charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and possession of a Class B drug.

Greenfield, March 22

12:14 a.m. — Caller reported that at the top of the stairs at Bank Row entrance to the Energy Park, there are a female and male arguing, and that the female is yelling for the male to get away from her; gone on arrival of police.

5:06 a.m. — Request from the John W. Olver Transit Center on Olive Street, from the FRTA dispatcher that someone is sleeping on a bench at this location; all people there were awake on officer’s arrival.

9:49 a.m. — Accident reported at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center, overflow parking lot on Beacon Street, but with no injuries; vehicle involved was found and the reporting person doesn’t have a license; the reporting person was told to secure the vehicle; the taillight on the driver’s side was broken when the vehicle backed into a light pole; the vehicle keys were returned to the owner in Bradford Drive, and that person was advised of the damage to the vehicle.

11:33 a.m. — Accident reported on Maple Street but with no injuries; due to a wide turn, a tractor-trailer was caused to enter the inland to avoid collision; a vehicle struck a stop sign to avoid the tractor trailer unit traveling eastbound; DPW was advised to replaced the stop sign.

2:15 p.m. — Accident reported in the Big Y parking area on the Mohawk Trail but no injuries reported; officer assisted with exchange of information.

2:57 p.m. — Caller near Walgreens at Federal and Pierce streets states she saw two cars stop in the middle of the road, both drivers got out, and were punching each other; they then got back in their cars, and drove off, heading up Federal Street; all she knew is it was a silver car and a red car; officer responded, but unable to locate the vehicles.

4:03 p.m. — Accident at Pierce and Chapman streets, but with no injuries reported; two vehicles, one towed; an officer provided a courtesy transport of one person to a Hope Street residence.

6:01 p.m. — Suspicious activity reported at Pine Ridge apartments on Bradford Drive where an anonymous caller said that there are two blonde females and one black-haired male out front, possibly engaging in drug activity; officer sent, but unable to locate them

Montague, March 22

6:03 a.m. — Male caller reports a suspicious vehicle on the side of Hillside Road, and the vehicle appears to be unattended, not running and no lights on; an officer responded, made contact with the registered owner, and found the vehicle ran out of gas; the owner will be removing the vehicle shortly.

7:20 a.m. — Accident reported at the Montague/Sunderland town line, on Route 47; officer investigating; found to be a single car accident in which the vehicle struck some ice and spun out, into the bridge there, but no injury reported, no fluids, and minor damage; the vehicle was able to be driven away.

9:17 a.m. — Caller from the Third Street laundry would like to know his options about a male that has been continually hanging out in the laundry, but not as a customer; he was advised of options.

4:05 p.m. — Officers on Farren Avenue to serve a warrant; the subject wasn’t home at this time, but roommate advised he would inform him to contact the police station; both units returned to the Farren Avenue location after a male caller advised he was home; one person in custody, arrested was Joel Rodriguez, 33, of Farren Avenue, Turners Falls, on the warrant.

4:12 p.m. — Caller from H Street advising of a couple of gentlemen soliciting in the area; she stated the male she spoke to was very nice, but she wasn’t sure the police department knew of them going door to door; the reporting person described one as a slim male, about 6 feet tall, not a lot of teeth, wearing a dark coat; the other male was wearing a beige jacket, and while on the phone, the reporting person noticed a third, older looking, black male; the reporting person advised these people were with, “Starion,” and were asking about energy; officer located the group on G Street, and the group was moved along, and advised of procedures they need to do if they wish to continue.

5:22 p.m. — Caller from Avenue A reports there is a needle in the area of Riff’s North restaurant and the Powertown Building; between the sidewalk and the road; officer sent, but was unable to locate the item.

9:18 p.m. — Turners Falls Fire Department, advising over the radio that they took a call direct from a resident at the Keith Apartments on Canal Street for a fire alarm sounding, and an odor of smoke; officer copied the message direct and joined at the scene, initial report was that of a water problem in one of the apartments.

Orange, March 22

7:10 a.m. — Officer on a detail on Route 2, detouring eastbound traffic off the highway at Exit 15, reports a vehicle drove around the detour and continued east in the westbound lane, causing vehicles headed west to swerve to avoid her; the vehicle was eventually stopped and the vehicle was found to be unregistered; the operator was issued a citation for the violations and the vehicle was removed from the roadway.

8:27 a.m. — Caller from Burrill Avenue reports someone opened a cable service account using the caller’s information; it was turned over to a collection agency and claims that person owes them $1,086 as of October 2015; a credit report was obtained and he is disputing this entry; Experian will follow up on the fraud, but they wanted him to report it here.

10:45 a.m. — While an officer was working a detail on Route 2 detouring traffic off the highway at Exit 15, a vehicle drove around the detour and continued to travel east in the westbound lane; the vehicle was eventually stopped, and the operator was issued a citation for the violations and redirected off of the highway.

11:40 a.m. — Hit and run on East Main Street where the reporting person says he just witnessed a minor accident in the Armory parking lot between a small black car and a white pickup, the truck left the scene, but the caller got a partial plate number; on officer’s arrival, the owner was spoken with; she stated she did speak with the operator of the other vehicle, and she doesn’t wish to take the matter any further.

1:19 p.m. — Officer wanted on West Main Street, from where Shelburne Control got a 911 call stating there is a female out of control; on officer’s arrival it was found that the female made suicidal threats; she was transported to Athol Memorial Hospital and a Section 12 process was filed.

3:10 p.m. — Control got a call from Court Square from a person requesting an officer to pick up some drugs they located; officer responded, and a report was taken.

3:40 p.m. — A walk-in reports someone accessed her bank account this morning and withdrew two times, for $500; under investigation.

5:35 p.m. — Larceny reported by a person who came to the station wanting it logged that her car was entered sometime over the weekend, and her wallet was stolen; the wallet contained $20 in cash, with credit cards, and a driver’s license; the reporting person said it either occurred at her house or on White Pond Road in Athol; she will advise Athol Police as well.

7:40 p.m. — Caller to the station reports a group of youths were seen crawling under the fencing on East Main Street; both units responded and found a group of seven playing, “manhunt”; they were advised they were trespassing, and sent on their way; the key holder was contacted to check the property for any damages.

Greenfield, March 23

12:17 a.m. — Burglar alarm on Hope Street at The Recorder Newspaper building; showing general alarm; no audible alarm on arrival, all exterior doors secure, and no vehicles in the immediate vicinity.

6:58 a.m. — Unwanted person reported at Swift Cleaners on Main Street; officers sent, and the person left prior to officer’s arrival.

9:01 a.m. — Accident in area of Green Fields Market, but no injuries reported, officer found the accident didn’t happen at this location, based on damage, and the wheel position; this may have taken place while parked in her brother’s driveway in Adams; services rendered.

10:27 p.m. — Report that a Toyota Rav4 has been repossessed at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center office building on Sanderson Street.

10:53 a.m. — Caller reports an accident, with no injuries, at Stop and Shop lot on French King Highway; single car involved; report issued.

12:14 p.m. — Caller from Barton Road reports a paving company attempted to force payment for unwanted work; officer spoke with the reporting person who said the work was started without permission; he said the Reliable Paving firm from New Hampshire approached him asking if he wanted the entire parking lot to Thomas and Thomas Fly Rods paved; he told them to come back later to discuss it; as the reporting person went back to work, the company arrived, dumped dirt and prepped to begin paving; the reporting person advised them he was contacting police, and the company picked up their equipment, and left prior to officer’s arrival.
