Brad Hastings of Pioneer Valley Regional School scored 15 points in his final schoolboy game in his home gym and was named Most Outstanding Player for the West All-Stars during their 101-77 win over the East All-Stars in the IAABO Board No. 28 Boys’ All-Star Game Friday night at Messer Gymnasium in Northfield.

Jalen Sanders of Turners Falls High School dumped in 14 points and Justin Farrick of Frontier Regional School and Zach Korpiewski of Franklin County Technical School each finished with 13 for the West.

Raphael Coleman of Easthampton High School netted a game-high 20 points and was named Most Outstanding Player for the East. Spencer Butterfield of Hopkins Academy added 11 and Colby Forbush of Granby High School chipped in 10.

The East All Stars won the girls’ game with a 76-57 victory over the West behind a game-high 14 from Jamie Staples of Amherst Regional High School, who was named Most Outstanding Player. Kylie Lounder of Belchertown High School hit for 13 and Jada Glasgow of Amherst contributed 11 for East.

Athol High School’s Emily Casella was named the West’s Most Outstanding Player after scoring 13 points. Chelsea Moussette of Hampshire Regional High School also had 13 points and Nicole Buzzee of Hampshire threw in 11.

Franklin Tech received the 2015-16 IAABO Sportsmanship Award.

According to IAABO Secretary/Treasurer Michael Churchill, nearly $2,000 was raised William F. Casey Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to graduating seniors.

Soccer officials course

The Connecticut Valley Soccer Officials Association will conduct an instructional course during April and May.

Members of the CVSOA referee scholastic soccer matches in Hampshire and Franklin Counties during the fall. Members must be 18 years of age or older and pass a background check. The instructional course includes both classes and field training, and candidates must pass a rules test. The classes take place on weekday evenings at Deerfield Elementary School. The course costs $50.

GGSL sign-ups

Registration sessions for the Greenfield Girls’ Softball League will take place today from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Greenfield Elks Lodge on Church Street.

The league is open all girls ages 5 through 16 and includes T-ball, Little Nipper, Ponytaill and Senior divisions.

Registrations for the Greenfield Grizzlies 12- and 14-and-under Suburban teams and the Franklin County Crush 10- and 12-and-under tournament teams will also be taken at each session.

Montague teams signups

The Montague Parks & Recreation Department is accepting registrations for new teams interested in joining their co-ed adult softball league. Montague’s league is ASA sanctioned with umpires. Team registration is $600.

The season runs from May through August, with games on Monday and Thursday evenings.

A league meeting is scheduled for April 14.

GML umpires sought

The Greenfield Minor League is seeking umpires for the 2016 season, which begins April 24 and runs through the end of June.

Games are played on Monday through Friday starting at 5:30 p.m.

FC Babe Ruth signups

The Franklin County Babe Ruth Baseball League will hold registrations Tuesday from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Frontier Regional School in South Deerfield, and Wednesday from 5:30 until 7:30 at Greenfield Middle School.

The Franklin County Mickey Mantle team will also have signups at these times.

Players ages 13 through 15 as of April 30 are eligible to play Babe Ruth, as are 12-year-olds playing school baseball on 90-foot diamonds.

Registration fee is $100 plus $50 for raffle tickets, which the players can recoup.
