GML umpires sought

UMass lax to honor ’76, ’06 teams
The UMass men’s lacrosse program and head coach Greg Cannella will welcome back members of the 1976 and 2006 teams during the final two home games in April to celebrate their 40- and 10-year anniversaries.
The 1976 squad will be recognized April 9 at halftime of the Towson contest, while the 2006 team’s celebration will take place during intermission of the April 23 against Hofstra.
In 1976, former head coach and recent IMLCA Hall of Fame inductee Dick Garber led the Minutemen to a 10-3 record and the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance. After starting 1-2, UMass reeled off nine straight wins to earn its NCAA berth.
Led by Cannella, the 2006 squad became the first New England team to reach the NCAA final. The unseeded Minutemen proceeded to barrel through what may have been the most difficult path to the championship game in history, knocking out the second-, third- and fourth-ranked teams in the nation.
All members of the 1976 and 2006 teams are invited back to participate in the celebrations.
