Mr. Forcier has offered an apology along with a short history of the events leading to the reasons for an apology. Chief Young, as the main recipient of the slanderous accusations from the three alleged witnesses, seems to have accepted the apology and moved on to more important matters. Mr. Forcier is to be commended for his timely retraction, his apology, and his willingness to face the slings and arrows. As for the three “witnesses,” perhaps their emotions got the better of them as well, and perhaps they should have refrained from criticism of the Fire Department, an organization of which they are not members, one that was engaging in a deadly battle that they could not see.
